Recently I've made some lousy choices in dorama. The last three titles I tried watching were all terribly bad; I did not go beyond the second episode of any of them. So late last night, with a little time to kill, I went back and watched Rikon Ryoko (Separate Ways), a made-for-TV special starring Toshiyuki Nishida and Keiko Matsuzaka which I had first viewed about a year ago. It's about a couple in their fifties having to deal with forced retirement, divorce, and unfulfillment. Sounds grim? Well, not entirely. Yes, it is somber, sad, and even heartbreaking; but it is also witty, funny, and heartwarming. Nishida and Matsuzaka are superb as the couple: great chemistry, utterly convincing as husband and wife. It's worth watching just to see these two interact with each other. Plus there are cameos by some wonderful character actors like Isao Hashizume and Takehiko Ono. Most of the story takes place over the course of several days and reads like a mini-travelogue as Nishida and Matsuzaka leave their home in Tokyo to go to Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Ehime prefecture, Uwajima, and finally Kobe before returning home. Highly recommended for those wanting to see a mature story which reveals much about Japanese society and deals with adult relationship issues in an entertaining way.

you might want to try Tiger & Dragon (same write as Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Kudo Kankuro)
there is also a Kisarazu Cat's Nihon Series movie that was recently released as well http://jtv-tracker.clubbed.org/
My Boss, My Hero & Attention Please were pretty funny as well.

I don't think there are many other series out there right now that are about Otakus or........games
Unless you consider Nobuta Wo Produce to be something of a game.
If you haven't seen it yet and do watch it, I think you'll see why I consider that drama to be somewhat of a game.... _________________
