They're not Torrents, they're direct links, web download ^_^
anyway .ssa are sub station alpha files. Basically a subtitle file like .srt that you commonly see from DVD rips. There are a number of ways to play .ssa file with the video, most common way is install vobsub. Then when you play the video you should get subtitles from the sub file.

i made a correction in my last post.. the conversion thing was actually when you say yes instead of no to the popup.
open the program and go to the leftmost tab. (should be default anyways..)
with either the first box or the browse button directly on its right, find the file you wish to split.
the textbox and button directly below this pair is the place where you locate a folder to place these files.
now you can request a certain size for the small files. the default i believe is 500kb/each. and after you change it either by typing or by the arrows, you can choose to go to options and enter a password (i haven't played around with this program too much yet.. and i haven't tried using the password thing. it's located in the lower textbox of the new window) the options button is the lone button above the bottom row of two buttons. should have a hotkey written something like [O]
when you are ready, click the left button on the bottom row.
so far, i don't know if its possible to change the extension of the minifiles into something other than the default *.png
