Ya know, to be honest, I dunno if I'd ever try the eel. Mebbe on a dare, but I don't think I'd readily order it on my own.

I'll take your word for it until I can manage to take that first leap into eel-y goodness.

Is it rubbery? Or like fish? I don't like rubbery foods that you have to chewy for ours... and combine that with slimy food... bleh But if it's like fish than I prolly won't have any problem eating it.

not at all rubbery.... more like fish...it's not rubbery or slimy....i say slippery because it's liberally coated/marinated with a special eel bbq sauce that enhances the flavor. very succulent and moist....not chewy, and rubbery like octopus, tripe, or kyoko fukada's legs....

Loco Moco...I haven't had that in ages...!

And...UNAGI!!! Daisuki!!! w00t!

Wynter...it's delicious...just need to watch for the small bones. I saw a segment on Soko ga Shiritai where an old woman who made a living fishing for unagi with her husband said that eating unagi makes the skin beautiful. She was in her 60's or 70's and her skin was flawless...

dolphin meat is metallic to eat. i loves me some mercury....

Despite dangerous levels of contamination, dolphin meat is still being sold in Japan to an unsuspecting public. In November 2004, the Elsa Nature Conservancy (http://enjoy.pial.jp/~animals/elsa/) acquired a sample of bottlenose dolphin meat from the drive fishery in Futo. The meat samples were tested by the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Test results found that the meat contained dangerously elevated levels of mercury, 48 times higher than current maximum levels set by Japan's Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry
