I'm working as part timer in a japanese restuarant which is famous for its japanese buffet. Mr Green I can drink ocha for free....i ate oyster before...taste raw, Shake Head and sukiyaki taste weird.....i want to try those "cold noodles".
Zaru soba is great to eat in the summer time, but i guess the weather being fine in malaysia. here in the east coast of the U.S. where I'm at it's about 0 degree, add the wind chill, it's -10.
But getting back to the zaru soba, its actually fairly easy to make. all you need the the soba itself, tsuyu (with 15% water) sliced nori, and with your pref (or not) scramble some eggs.

Funny thing is, there's a ramen restaurant in nearby Gardena named "Tampopo..." Coincidence? I think not. hehe

When I was in Japan I had to have at least two bowls or ramen a sitting. That, or get a bowl of ramen, some yakimeshi, and some gyoza. =)

Not so fond of ramen but I like Gyoza very much. Do they have several varieties of it like with chinese dumplings?
There's a chinese dimsum buffet near my place and they serve like more than 15 types of dumplings. Each waiter has a different dimsum cart and u call out which ones u like. I'm getting hungry already...

I bet the wait to go there is significantly shorter now that chinese new year is out of the way. dimsum cost so much here in DC.

At the Marukai store I've seen vegetable, chicken, pork, and beef gyoza, but I've only tried the chicken, which is very good. The brand to buy (IMO) is Day-Lee Pride... Big Grin
