to tell you the truth, maybe i'm just fed up with all those school doramas (also, retexed with malay, which i barely understand). the recent one i watched, Ganbatte Ikimashoi was such a let down. i can't believe people keep comparing it with Regatta, isn't that being a bit to cruel? to regatta that is... _________________

after you've seen a few school doramas you've pretty much seem them all.
We watched the first episodes of Sera Fuku to Kikanjuu and decided to stop watching and collect the rest before continuing. Kind of surprised it ended at 7 eps even though we haven't seen 3-7. I'm just glad to be able to understand Japanese well enough to not wait for the subtitled version. We'll re-start this tomorrow.

Recently started watching Overtime to end my dorama viewing hiatus....this dorama really has that ineffable mystique that really drew me toward doramas many many years ago. This dorama is very enjoyable thus far! Screenwriter Eriko Kitagawa rocks and Makiko Esumi is so imminently believeable as Natsuki Kasehara.....her acting is really superb.
It is one of my all time favs!!

Overtime rocks...I love the characters and how real they feel...just a bunch of ordinary 30 somethings trying to make it thru life and love. Makiko Esumi is so impeccably perfect in her portrayal of Natsuki Kasehara.....as I mentioned above this dorama has screenwriter Eriko Kitagawa's mystique written all over it. This dorama really does remind me of the 90s "golden years" of jdoramas......
Sorimachi is also great too. The cool, calm collected camera man who cherishes the important things.....haven't quite finished this dorama but I'm savoring it.

Ive loved Esumi ever since I saw her in that role!
I also felt Sorimachi was exceptionally good in Overtime. Often I feel he overacts which is suitable as Nobunaga in Toshiie TO Matsu but was rather annoying, IMHO, in Hotman though I did enjoy that series overall. In Overtime his acting was downplayed and very sympathetic. Look forward to hearing what you have to say when it ends, Tu.

Close. Watched Ooku hana no ran with Rina Uchiyama. Not food realated, but she's oishii.
After 20 minutes, I finally found out why people committed seppuku. If I had a katana, I might I've done the same. Episode 2 is not so bad, but there's a lot of bitching. You also need to pause the drama all the time to decipher the subs. _________________

that bad, huh? that's a turnoff.
Sometimes it's not too bad like: "Yesterday I thinking you...", but some other times... and since they speak old and proper Japanese it's almost impossible to understand what they're saying. _________________
