Thought i posted this before... I have all the lessons, except for the intermediate... though i haven't had time to properly listen, and if you have a iPod, they have katakana, hiragana and romaji in the comments section you can read through.

the culture classes are pretty informative and most of the eps are funny. Doch picked up some bits for his trip from the Survival phrases.

I also wish you good luck!
I think it's hard to force oneself to study. For me it is.
But nevertheless I won't give up, because I love japanese languages and I want to understand all the dramas, movies etc and I want to go to Japan and being able to communicate in Japanese there.
I started learning with a book, but longtime, I didn't do it now, because it takes much time. Also I can't force myself to learn Hiragana and Katakana.
Now, I'm not really learning much, I try to remember vocabulary and pronounciation by watching J-Doramas, I think, it's very useful.
I want to study Japanese after school at university, but until then, I want to contunue learning by watching Doramas and movies, because it makes learning be fun ^_^

I haven't touched any of my Japanese language books (and audiobooks) for more than half a year now because of school. But since holiday vacation's here, I think I should touch up on that again so I won't completely forget what I learned Sweat Instead of "periodic learning" though, I'm planning to save up so I can study in Japan for a year after I graduate from college two years from now. I think that's the most efficient way to learn a language. I just hope that I can actually make it happen Fingers crossed

I also think so. And I also want to study in Japan for one year later.
It's sure the best way of learning a new language.
Maybe I also should continue with my book a bit in my holidays.^^

I also started the self-studying thing, with books, and free internet resources, and thanks to the dramas I can practice listening too! ^^ This site has helped me to learn the Kana (hiragana and katakana), I still forget them sometimes but this site is good for random reviewing:

http://www.gyford.com/japanese/

Now I've started learning the Kanji, and I don't think I've ever had to learn something this hard, I honestly sometimes feel like a masochist taking this up, but it's the principal way of writing so I guess it can't be avoided... Bang Head

I'm self-stuying Japanese. It's not impossible, not as long as you love learning Japanese! ^^
Learning hiragana and katakana takes forever but being able to read it is awesome! Dancing hang in there! everybody can do it!
watch LOTS of doramas! you learn loads from it.
http://japanese.about.com/ is a very good site that has taught me a lot.

I'm going to Japan for a year after I finish school. I can't wait!

Having a teacher would be nice, but cheap as they are, my school doesn't even offer a Japanese language course Grumble Self-studying requires a great deal of discipline and will, both of which I don't really have right now. The only thing I've done recently is watch dramas after another Sweat
