ooOh this the first time i noticed this thread toO!
haha.. yup yup, today i was passing by TS at plaza sing.. they're having 20% discount on Kdramas n there's this group of pple practically surrounding the whole table! when the rest of the shop is quite empty..
scary scene.. they look like they were snatching up the stuff.. haha.. i guess it wld take sometime for pple to start noticing jdramas, esp when the local tv channels dun even show them at all.. i tink nobuta wo produce will jus bring the storm back.. haha
OMG that's my exact sentiments!! I have always thought how great it would be if nobuta wo produce is shown on channel 8 ^^ Quite a number of singaporeans know yamapi actually (or heard of at least) and it would be a good way to bring them back to jdramas and the j-craze haha.
i guess one of the reasons why people don't really like watching jdramas is because there isn't a voiceover like how kdramas shown here have? Pple are lazy to read subs lol.
sighh i wonder if there is any way to ask mediacorp to bring jdramas back?

Haha.. you all may not know this but believe it or not! This site was set up by a Singaporean -.- It's stated under the FAQ section.
sighh pretty sad that the web's biggest english japanese drama website was set up by someone whose fellow countrymates are almost totally ignorant of jdramas.

haha, yes!! i told a fren abt some jdramas tt i watched n i kept saying the character's names in japanese so she was like, u watch in japanese.. so i told her japanese dramas hav no sound dubbing like kdramas, n she was like... ok...
haha, n not many pple read chinese subtitles as well.. even in singapore, n i noe this cos i worked in the vcd shop in the past n almost 70% of the pple look for english subtitles drama..
hmm, seems like everyone's recommending one riterou no namida.. i shld watch tt nex.. hahaha.. =)
i tink it's quite hard for mediacorp to bring back jdrama unless there's signs of it's popularity returning cos kdramas n taiwan shows are more sought after now, n they would play wadever pple likes to watch..

YES! not many pple read chinese subtitles and TRAD CHINESE subtitles especially for the younger generation. Oh gosh, i think it has become so rare that reading trad chi is becoming a talent heh But well.. quite easy to pick up as long as you watch jdramas often
are jdramas even subbed in english? So far those bought dramas i have (stand up, kisarazu's cat's eye, GTO, Kimi wa petto) are ALL subbed in traditional chinese.. JDrama sales are not doing very well over here i guess because many people choose to download them which is a faster, cheaper alternative that gives you english subs -.-
sighh i think it's a vicious cycle. mediacorp don't play jdramas, pple don't know jdramas, fewer jdrama lovers, discourages mediacorp from playing jdramas even more. I think the only way to get pple to watch is like peer to peer influence. haha personally i have influenced around 10 people to watch jdramas in the later half of this year!!
as for the voiceover thing, i wonder which organization handles the voiceover? The TV station which produced the drama or the local organization that bought the drama?
and yeah montanaky.. watch one litre of tears!!! Maybe you will like ryo-chan then

ichi ritoru no namida ,Taiyo no uta , Summer Snow , Attention Please and Sekai no Chuushin de Ai wo Sakebu are also great as well
hello! welcome to this thread. yay it's getting more alive here now!!
Nodame cantabile.. what's it about? I didn't try a single of this season's dramas because i didn't know which to watch.
Speaking of which, how fast does poh kim import dramas? Say.. are dramas from last season (like sapuri and My boss my hero) in stock yet? I saw all of the doramas from last season in china during my short holiday there. And they sell it for like less than $10 sing over there -.-

ya! this place suddenly so alive ^^ haha, actually i m new too! been watching jdramas for the past 5 mths or so..
i noe kurosagi, dandori, sapuri n MBMH are selling alr, for quite some time.. i go there like twice a week.. haha.. so they are quite fast..
jdramas usually no eng subs unless it's dvd.. i tink, n the vcds selling in the shops are usually from malaysia, tt's y quite fast.. n dubbing's usually by taiwan companies, i tink singapore doesn't do dubbing, so if we do not get jdramas from taiwan or china, den there's no dubbing.. yup yup.. n singaporeans are nt used to china dubbings.. sounds funny..
this season... tatta hitotsu no koi by kame is nice!!! one more episode to go.. =) n my fren says 14 sai no haha is nice as well..
n i cant influence any of my frens to watch jdramas! haha.. they are too engrossed in their cable n wadsoever..

I'm actually quite new to jdramas too! My crazy only started like this year's april when my friend introduced h2 to me. I continued with ganbatte ikimasshoi, one litre of tears and totally got hooked then.
Hmmm.. don't think any of those dramas are in dvd form right? And subbed by taiwan, that explains the trad chi..
tatta hitotsu no koi HMM ok i'll try that because someone else recommended that to me a few weeks ago too. but well.. if it's something like sapuri then i'll
lol.. i basically nag at my friends about the jdramas i watched and basically they got tired of me, decided to watch and got hooked on from there ^^

Megumi Noda, or "Nodame," is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. Although she is an extremely talented pianist who can play by ear, she can't read music. She also hates to take a bath or clean her room. For her daily meals, she usually grabs something out of her friend's lunchbox.
Nodame soon falls in love with Momogaoka's top student, Shinichi Chiaki. Born into a musical family, he plays the piano and violin brilliantly. Although his major is piano, he has secret ambitions to become a conductor.
Based on the big hit comic book by Tomoko Ninomiya, this is the romantic comedy of two completely different personalities. -- Fuji-TV
Overall it`s a drama full of humor like my boss my hero

haha GOOD then. i watched one episode of sapuri and couldn't stand it already.. realized i haven't watched a drama that's purely a love story. Shall try that kame drama then! The only drama i've seen kame in is nobuta wo produce and he did quite a good job Yeah.. drama ratings seem to be on the low ends nowadays in japan too.
lol looks like i better open my eyes bigger. The dvds you said that are sold in toa payoh don't happen to be sold in that cd shop at the underpass leading to the MRT station right?? If so i better since i pass by that place every day home from school LOL.

Hmm.. nodame cantabile sounds interesting and something that i will like! Shall try that and the kame drama after i finished dragonzakura
Whoas. Just checked the drama tv ratings thread and apparently Nodame cantabile is probably one of the most popular drama this season? Dr Koto 2006's the most popular, anyone watches it?
Strange that a kame drama did so badly, i would have thought the mere fact that kame's acting would mean a must watch for kame and kat-tun fans-->high rating, maybe everyone was expecting a sapuri no.2
what?!! drama at $10 in SINGAPORE?! That's amazing. Thanks for the recommendation hydetetsu!! I must check out that place one day. Which shopping centre is that at exactly?
