OMG! I started reading the posts and stumbled on massive spoilers, so if you'll pardon me, I'm NOT gonna read all the previous posts. Bow

I love this drama. I can't quite pinpoint what it is, tho. I'm only on epi 7, but it's one of those dramas that make you itch for more after each episode.

I most say, I'm totally blown away by Reiko. She's absolutely fab in this.

>>whew<< It took me a while to find this thread, but I'm glad I did. I'll read the above posts once I'm DONE with this drama. Victory! Peace!

I think it's because with most dramas you have a main protagonist, a main antagonist, and everybody else is shades of grey in between. With this drama you have 1 protagonist and everybody else are complete assholes, so you're waiting to see how/if everybody gets their just desserts!

That is correct, Toshi. They were showing it on channel 44 earlier this year. I missed most of episode 1, so I never bothered to record it myself. Strangely enough, channel 18 was showing Haru to Natsu at about the same time. Racer was in heaven!!!

They did broadcast it locally on KXLA-44, but it had crappy subs with italicized Times Roman font. Shake Head

The one that Ralph and Wynter have is the Chinese/Taiwan(?) release that Ralph bought on yesasia... Better fonts, but poorly grammar-ed subs. And Chinese menus.

I've got a copy of Ralph's version, but I re-authored it with English menus... But I have to redo everything, since that's about the time my HD crashed. Puppy Dog Eyes bleh

Oh, and Geezer has a copy of my English-menued version. Smile

Let me ask this just as a matter of clarification....the broadcast on KXLA-44 was only crappy in the sense that you didn't care for way the subtitles were presented, right? Otherwise, they were fine...grammatically speaking, ne?

From what I recall, they seemed to be grammatically correct... But they were obnoxiously distracting.

Thanks for your reply. I can understand your consternation but, for me, the incorrect grammar would be much more obnoxious than the graphical presentation of the subs.

I'm interested in watching this drama given its critical acclaim and the presence of Ryoko Yonekura & Reiko Takashima.

Even now, I've only seen Ryoko in Pretty Girls which I thought was gosh awful...I need to put that behind me. Sweat

I haven't watched at lot of dramas on channel 44 (I'm too busy watching Puffy on Hey! Hey! Music Champ bleh ) but I think that's how they sub all their dramas.

I trust you and defer to your experience with regard to KXLA-44 dramas. As I mentioned earlier I can deal with "weird looking" subs but if the grammar and translation is off that's a more serious problem.

I got my copy from Ralph as well. It was something of a surprise in the package her sent me. Smile

You should really watch Seikei Bijin. Ryoko-san did a grand job in that drama.

I just finished watching epi 7. FINALLY Fumino is gonna kick ass. I've been waiting for her to burst for 6 epi's now. And that dance instructor is a bad baaaaaaad boy.

Me too, I remember the first subbed copy of GTO that I got was from Malaysia or someplace else, the guy that did the subs was so "english challenged" I was better off watching a non-subbed version!

well then you and i are compatriots in that regard...if the translation is so "off" as you mentioned...it's better not to torture one self by watching it. Sweat

LOL! This is true. But then, I also said that I "enjoyed" Kurosagi, but would prolly never watch it again.

For Seikei Bijin, some parts annoyed the heck out of me, but in the end I liked the drama over all. I suggested it to you purely for Ryoko's performance, since you mentioned that you'd only seen her in Pretty Girls. Smile
