Yes, my roommate was drooling over Eiji Wentz. Heh.

I think the footage they couldn't show was from the Olympics (TM) or some other sports event. Every time NHK news can't show video or audio because of copyright issues, it's a sports thing. Not 100% sure though...

Here's my writeup of Kouhaku. I'm sick so I wasn't able to add much of my usual silly commentary this year. It's a good show to have on in the background when all you want to do is lie on the couch, surf the web a bit, and play with your spouse's DS Lite. *G* Still, I kinda missed the Matsuken Samba.

P. S. I stole my artist and song info from various other sources, so let me know if there are any mistakes. None of the other sources felt like listing the judges, though.

CherKell-san ... He is Patrick Harlan from comic team Pakkun Makkun. He is also the host of NHK talk show Eigo de Shabera Naito.

The images they cut from KTSF and LA were broadcast in NY, HI, and of course in Japan. They were pictures of skating. The other scene they censored was and censored in CA apparently. It looked like the women were topless but they were actually wearing body suits that made it look like they were nude.

I enjoyed the show though it was not as good as some of the past years. Glad that Nakama Yukie was back again. Applaud

So, it looks like the last episode of Kochira Hon-Ikegami Sho will air next week, and I assume the last episode of the taiga dorama is also last week, which is why they're going to show the Japan Record Awards show on the 27th from 8pm to 11:30, as well as from 12midnite to 1am, pre-empting the remaining shows in the Saturday Fuji-TV line-up, i.e., Kaze No Haruka and Sapuri/NEP League. Yes, apparently the TTV Saturday shows from 11:30-12midnite will be "sono mama," i.e., the NHK news and that Christian program.

That Buddhist nun was the famous novelist, Setouchi Jakucho. You might remember the 3-part dorama about her life, which aired on KTSF last January on Sunday evenings. Here is a link to a good write-up about her:

I noticed it also mentions that she likes to dance the awa-odori, which is the same dance that "Haruka" learned in order to take over the tour for her boss with the bad back.

De aru ka. I hadn't made that connection. Bow

according to the tv guide, ktsf will be airing akai tsuki starting next week in the 8 o'clock slot, a 6 part series. one would have thought that they would have shown previews at the end of kochira.

Jeez, another WWII drama? Grumble Must be the third one in the past year. Are there folks out there who actually reminisce about those days? Crazy

I think I'll just tune in for Kaze no Haruka.

Gomen, Sachiko-san. I've been working way too much these days to visit this thread, so I'm just catching up now. Arigatou gozaimashita for the information -- I wiki'd him to find out more.

And since my freakin' Comblast went out again over the weekend, I've gotta find a copy of the awards show from Saturday night. Any suggestions, ne?

I still have the whole thing on the harddrive of my DVD recorder. If you give me a few days, I can edit the thing down a bit so it'll fit on one DVD at the 4-hour speed and send it to you (I'm up here in SF). PM me with a snail-mail address if you're interested.

In case everyone didn't notice, there is going to be major rescheduling of J-TV next weekend on KTSF due to special Chinese New Year programming. All of Saturday's shows will be shown on Sunday, between 11:30am and 3pm, and then Sunday's regular shows will start at 10:30pm and run until 1am.

On Sunday's I also watch the J-TV on AZN starting at 6pm, so it's going to be a bit of a marathon for me.

When we watch KTSF on satellite, we usually hear a lot of audio that is not in the original program, faintly. Last nite on Furin no Kazan I could make out some music, sounded vaguely like DeBussy. Anyone?
