Does anyone know where I can get the subs for the special? The one I downloaded didn't come with any, and I couldn't find them on D-Addicts. Sweat

Can you please explain how you found them? I went here: http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/torrents.php?search=Kuitan&type=jdrama&sub=sub_english&sort= and did a search but I couldn't find them. Also, am I not using D-Addicts properly? I'm not a member there, and I've only ever downloaded dramas from there with hardsubs. Any help would be appreciated. For shame indeed. ashamed Pout

on the d-addicts start page on the left hand side there is a list of links one of them being "subtitles index" which is organized alphabetically. follow until you reach Kuitan click on that thread and observe the links for all the softsub files at the head of the thread.

Please can someone explain...

Just looking at the last few posts in this thread, I want to download the Kuitan special (and subs) cos my dvd has awful subs.

BUT - if I were to download these from d-addicts, would I have to view it on a computer?
I need to be able to watch on my tv, you see.

(I have had a look at d-addicts, but I couldn't work out if stuff could be put on a disc and viewed on tv).

It depends on whether or not your DVD player can play AVI files and their corresponding subtitle files... What brand/model DVD player do you have?

If you don't have a compatible player, you might want to trade with someone that has hardsubbed the drama (like me or Geezer)... Smile

I'd never heard of AVI files before. Sweat

I have a couple of dvd players - one is a Liteon LVW-5006
The other is a Daewoo International model, but I can't find the model number.

The Daewoo player is supposed to play any dvd, if that's any use?

Thanks for advising!

The .avi files are typically the raw files that you can download from the various BitTorrent sites, usually in xViD or DivX format.

The separate subtitle files are usually .srt or .ssa files.

If you have a compatible player that can play DiVx or xViD files, it might also have the capability of recognizing and using the subtitle files when playing back the DivX or xViD files...

I'm not sure if your player(s) will work with them or not... I guess you'll just have to try it out... Check the user manual(s) if you can... Smile

That might be the one you want to try first... Just make sure the video file (.avi) and corresponding subtitle file (.srt or .ssa) are on the same disc. Smile

Good luck!

I thought Wynter had finished Kuitan too... Bonk (<- I don't really know what this emoticon signifies, but I hope it fits the mood)

@ bmwracer

Anyway - attempt number 1 -

*thinks* I should point out that my boyfriend did the dirty work, whilst I looked on admiringly. Mr Green

So, following your good advice, my bf managed to combine the subs and film together. It played great on the computer. He then tried to put this combination on a disc. This worked - kind of: the film played fine on my Daewoo player, but the subs were nowhere to be seen.
We would have tried the other dvd player, only it is really temperamental, and is currently refusing to open to allow insertion of the disc. Grr.

So, back to the drawing board. I am hoping the fact that the film itself played on the on machine is a good sign? Shouldn't the subtitles also be playable by such a machine?

Thanks for your help, bmw. I will get there, I think, in the end!

Hmm.

Since I don't have a player like that, I'm not quite sure how it's supposed to work... I'm guessing that if the player was reasonably smart enough, it would associate a video with a similarly named subtitle file, or possibly if you picked a video file, you could somehow tell it which subtitle file to use... Not sure about this... Gomen.

The fact that the DVD player can play the video is great, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it supports subtitles as well.... Unfortunately.

I think there's a DVD player thread in the GD forum that discusses this and it might clear things up further... You might take a look and/or post a question for the J-D faithful. Big Grin

I'll search around as well... When time permits (I'm at work right now Beaten )
