I'm honestly not mad about that thing, I'm even glad that they beat Aya Ueto , which I've heard was the former number 1 actress. It's not like I hate Aya though, I'm just glad that other rising stars have chances of making it big.
Oh thanks for translating that, Haha, I'm even more glad that Erika S. beat Masami Nagasawa! Let's dance..

Aya is like 21 this year...just one year older than Sawajiri whereas Erika Toda is even younger!18 years old.So it's a case of discarding the old and replacing with the young...I don't like the chances for Sawajiri. If even the star that had Japan going bonkers over her in 2005 in the form of Ueto Aya lost her popularity to such an extent within one year than...better not think of such things.Let's hope nothing dramatic happens to Sawajiri that will affect her popularity negatively...
By the way in my country a movie called Ghost Tunnnel that had E.Sawajiri playing a lead role in had been showing. Is it a old movie or is it a rather new one shot by her?

Yeah we hope so too.
And we've heard about her horror movie is now playing in Singapore. We have a lot of folks from Singapore here, more like the active majority in the thread. If I'm not mistaken, it was just released last September 2006 in Japan, so it's I guess it's not too old.

I'm not sure about the exact details, whether she made 1LoT or Ghost Train first, but I'm pretty sure Ghost Train was released last September 2006 in Japan. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice choice of words! However... I think you're making it sound like a bad thing. Being on the top 10 is good enough, cause if you didnt make it then Plus, Satomi almost didnt make it!
And i dont know what's you're thinking but 21 isn't old! I mean, I wouldnt even say 30 is old. I'd just say they are a real adult at 30. Aya isn't old!!!!

Yes no doubt 21 is very young but just look at how the top ten Japanese female actresses protrayed out to be.It's almost as if they are putting them according to their age.Aya is no doubt losing popularity thanks to the emergence of Erika Toda but...if by the next three years Toda drop out of the top ten then it's pretty obvious that the Jap media favours ppl
below the age of 20.
Sorry if I make it sound real bad but we should be realistic, even if we are the most crazy of fans. There's no point just looking at the pros of our idol.By knowing when and why our idol lost their popularity we can then try to counter that.I don't know actually to help them but there's must be another way besides patronizing their products.Any suggestions? There's a limit to how much we fans can help but I want to stretch the limit.A little ambitious but I must try nonetheless...

you can help by 1 of 4 things:
1) Vote for the idol in polls
2) Buy an insane amount of idol products
3) Keep requesting idol goods
4) Watch the idol whenever they are on tv or performing
what you say is somewhat true about ages but im not thinking it's the age because Erika Toda and Yui have been models for a long time. RIGHT NOW is when they got their first big performances Yui: MBMH, Erika: Death Note. These arent the main factors but it made a majority of people notice them. Erika Sawajiri is probably on the list as well. Aya has been on the list for a while so if it was age, she could have dropped last year or so, but she still makes it on the top 10. Aya has had some not so good performances last year and a bad haircut that could have dropped her popularity. All im saying is that it might not be age that controls the list. BUT japanese people do like young kids, particularly aged 11-15. Those are creepy artists!
