Oh, I can breathe now! Cool! And thanks for understanding that it was just a question and not blowing it out of proportion like some other people here..............

(IMO) It is kind of "ridiculous", like you've stated above. It takes time to find someone to get "hitched" to. Not necessarily just by your age.
In Hawaii, it's a lot of my Filipino friends I notice who have that type of living standard. Some Japanese too, but they don't stress it like I've seen the Filipinos I know do. The Japanese people I know just worry about work first, then a "life"! Which serves purpose 'cause you can't take care of a family if you work for, per say, McDonald's (like I used to in high school ) !!!

from my experience that is. _________________

Quite the pressure it puts on you huh?! Must be tough. But, after all, this ain't "caveman" times. And they should realize that already. (IMO)

Excellent support! Your parents must be really supportive people huh?!

Too bad it's like that for you. Even though you don't agree with your aunties and whatnot, tradition is hard to break. (Which they are living in) Give them a break, and have them understand your "traditions" as a 2nd/3rd generation. (If they can't, too bad 'cause it won't change) -- (You ain't gonna live in the Phillipines right?!)
Even Japanese LOVE to gossip. When I was in Japan, I stayed at my gf's house. All the "Obaachan" neighbors were all gossiping on who I was and what kind of relationship I had with her. Unluckily for t hem, I understood everything that they were saying.

and yes my folks are really supportive, my mom is kinda bitter when it comes to relationships though, cuz she thinks im still young and i shouldnt be going out (<~~ i like this face) heck she just recently agreed bout my sister getting married this year, when shes been in a relationship for 9 years now (plus shes 3 yrs. older than me).. but in a way i know theyre just lookin out for me |
It's your life. If you want to make the best of it, you can't live by other peoples' standards! Or else you'll be doing what they want to do.
You have to live by your own!
Your mom seems cool. She's just looking out for you if anything. Hey, it could be worse. She could demand that you get married soon. But she seems on higher standards than that.
| MixxDreamaer wrote: | yeh same goes with me, my relatives would talk in bisaya (a different filipino language) not knowing for them that i could understand it pretty well |
I think I might know a little words in Bisayan 'cause I used to work at McDonald's in Hawaii and all......... (Plenty of Filipino managers only talking Filipino at work)

No. I'm sure. But what words I know, I'm not sure.
I know there is Tagalog, Iilokano, and Bisayan. Maybe more, but I have no idea.
