Oh god, that's annoying. Stupid people. Like they have nothing better to do than stuff like that.
Yup. So frustrating. Apparently all comments by fans will be lost as well. I find it interesting that it was all males. Not one female profile was deleted. At least, not that I know of... _________________
@Q - It's not so much what you said, but that you said it in a half-assed way and then took it back when people started to disagree with you. Don't make flippant comments and then apologize because you don't want to back it up. If you're going to make a comment, back it up or at least stand up for your views. Otherwise don't make such comments at all.
Anyways, I'm not upset about it anymore. Just be a little more understanding next time. And not just towards teachers, but anyone who doesn't share the same profession as you.
well, i thought about it, and yea, it wasn't a fair comment that i threw out there, and no offense to the teaching profession, which i have utmost respect for, and know of teachers personally. The lack of backing up what i said, sure, i agree, and i merely apologized for my actions cause i felt i made a wrong comment, without backing it up, and inaddition it wasn't a fair comment to begin with since there are teachers that stay past 5pm sometimes. sure, i respect your point of view and will watch what i say in regards to other professions, views. I have no problem of compromise, and especially if i knew i was in the wrong to begin with.
anyhow, let's put this behind us, and we can all learn from one another.

I was looking at the Top 50 Dramas/Artists thing to see how much damage has been done. At a second glance, I realize that Matsumoto Jun and Yamashita Tomohisa are 2nd and 3rd, and Kurosagi is way up there also. Aish. _________________

Honestly, the damage was done long ago when a Top 50 list was established.

been out for almost the entire day.
Went to watch 300 (good good movie) then went to eat at a chinese buffet and they were anal over just 13 cents.....which led us to believe they took a dollar and complained bout us underpaying them.
Uhhh too my little cousin home and then my brother and i watched Cursed of The Golden Flower at my friend's house. Good movie, odd enough story and good performance by the main cast and supporting cast too.
Overall, I did nothing school related and i better do that tomorrow _________________

I would like to continue the discussion currently going on in the "Love/Relationship" thread concerning the use of the word "Jap" and race relations between Japanese women and African-American men in the USA. Although this may or may not be the correct thread to discuss this in I might as well jump in and offer my thoughts.
To begin with I want to welcome setfree to this MB. I just want to give you a little background info. on me before I state my opinions on some of your comments. I am an African-American woman who lives on the East Coast. I am a graduate of Howard University. I have been a Buddhist for almost 23 years and belong to a temple in the USA that has its' head temple in Japan. I have been to Japan 9 times in my life. So that being said my brotha, here goes.
The use of the word "Jap" has historical references as to why and how it is so offensive. Just because you or your friends use it, doesn't make it any less offensive. There is a big difference between slang words used among friends in private and words that you use in public. Since this is a MB where everyone, no matter what their race, ethnicity, religion, age, sex or nationality shares the love of Japanese culture through doramas you might want to read this thread:
I realize that everyone's experience of racism is unique, and I would never try to diminish what has happened to you in the past. I have several Japanese female friends who are married to African-American men. To stereotype a whole nation of women because of what you have experienced makes no sense to me. The reactions you got from the Japanese women you approached as a complete stranger, might have to do with your obviously open and above board friendly manner. You may want to try a softer approach. Introduce yourself first. Japanese are some of the most polite people I know. If a complete stranger on a bus asked me to partner with him as a language partner, I don't care what race he was, I would not have called him either. I hope we can continue to discuss this or any other topic in a respectful manner.
