That's Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue', with adaptations by Hattori Takayuki. Links to most of the CD-albums and sets of music from and related to "Nodame Cantabile" can be found in this drama's discussion thread. |
Thanks thtl! I thought it was Gershwin. It was right on the tip of my tongue, but I couldn't get my brain to recall it. Thank you for the other info also!

I've been following this drama and also find it quite interesting. The cast did a find job, in particular Maya Miki. When it comes to the leading actress, Shaku Yumiko, I suggest you concentrate on her assets, as there isn't much acting to focus on.

Just finished ep 10 of Hanazono Yuriko.
I like this one a lot.
Mikami Kyoukan is hilarious in this one, great to see a different side of her.
Shaku Yumiko performs well in this too.
Overall its a good one. 10/10 from me for this one thus far. Just hope it has a good end. _________________

"Odoru daisousassen" (Rhythm and Police") One of the all time great series.

I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding this series. A great ensemble cast, a wonderful character-driven script, a perceptive critical look at Japanese society, and often so very funny. I find it somewhat amusing that it's received almost no attention on this site even though it is a monster franchise in Japan. In a 2001 poll of Japanese viewers, it ranked first among the top twenty all-time TV series. The first OD movie was the top-grossing domestic live-action film of the year in Japan; the second OD movie was the top-grossing domestic live-action film of all-time in Japan; the third and fourth movies featuring characters from the series also did good business.

I recommend you skip this one.
I like the leads in this drama, but it was just too lame
I felt really really let downed. _________________

I'm glad you agree re: "Odoru daisousassen". I consider it an absolute classic.
I bought both of the movies, and loved both. And thanks to dochira I got my grubby hands on two of the TV specials and had a great time watching them, even though no one ever got around to doing subs for the specials.
"Odoru daisousassen" became a touch stone for me. I jump at the chance to watch anything written by the team that wrote that show. And I'll go after any movie or drama featuring anyone who appeared in the series. _________________ Manga is to Literature
