Hmm
they should make a "live a day in yamapi's life" program. Like a reality show thing, open a contest for one fan to be a journalist/recorder. Make them pay for the application for the contest. Hahaha imagine how much would you pay for that...but then again that could only be done once. Too much would cheapen their image.
r1n: I see what you mean....but then how come it's like 80% of all those new group new pairing happen in NewS only? White mouse? That's what some fans thought of, that Johnny use NewS as experimental white mouse.....sigh.....and now I just suddenly pop up w/ a question......w/ Kinki Kids going solo and Pi solo for once and all other diff types of pairings...........why Johnny's never let Kimura go solo?? He's qualified more than anyone in the whole company to go solo.

If you divide V6 or SMAP nobody's gonna buy their albums..heck the fans are not buying their albums when they're together let alone when they're subdivided. If this tactic's going to be successful, you have to do it with a group with a reliable, established fans base i.e. NewS. They experimented with Kanjani8 actually but I think they don't have the confidence dividing Kanjani8 further so they left it at that.
I think a large part of the fans are attracted to group dynamics. That's why they didn't let people go solo. I love NewS as a group, even though they have solo albums, it's when they're together that I love them the best.
Anyhow, I'm just wondering of the kind of effects subdividing will have on the group dynamics. I mean even yamapi always have said he's not that close to the other members untill the past 2 years. Don't think subdividing is a good idea for the groups itselves.
Yamapifans: That's very true. I think Johnny's been letting a lot of people going solo... Exactly what is he hoping to accomplish? o.O It seems like he's not even letting the members get together again... Especially since it's been happening only to Yamapi, Tegoshi, and Masuda. I get the feeling of favoritism.
Well, SMAP has more freedom, and they've been around a lot longer. So I think Johnny's doesn't want to do that to the older groups, especially since SMAP is so popular. Kusanagi has went solo before, but I don't really know it counts since it wasn't exactly for JE... Didn't he release a single/album (forgot which one) with Shinhwa?

I disagree w/ this statement.......We are talking about SMAP and Kimura. They definitely have bigger (and much bigger) fans base than NewS do. Maybe the fans are not as passionate as NewS fans b/c they are older and have better self-control, but I think their purchase power is just as strong, and even stronger. And their international market is super big. Their CDs also top Oricon#1 frequently. At least NewS never sold a CD over 600,000, but SMAP did sold couple CDs w/ over million of copies.

Hmm I'm not a fan so I dont really know..but if you look at it that way..maybe because their purchasing power is just as strong or stronger JE doesn't want to take any chances with them. If their fans are older, I think they're less likely to rave about single albums and they also have a self imposed budget. It's the younger fans who usually are less likely to restrict themselves to buy.

I agree with you. Kimura would have gone solo before but he loves the group too much. SMAP has bigger fanbase than you could possibly imagine, from three-year-olds to 70-year olds. And here's another proof, Shingo, Tsuyoshi & Goro have all released solos before and all have achieved respectable sales. You can't say that to NEWS. I'm not bashing NEWS but let's face it, NEWS would never be a SMAP in like...another 10 years! And maybe another group like KT or K8 might get bigger than NEWS, or other newer groups that JE will debut.
All I wanna say is, subdividing with V6 and SMAP is fine, but not with NEWS. We will have to see the sales of TegoMasu's next single to actually theorize more (just 88,000 for Miso Soup?? WTH?). Or NEWS' next single to see if they're really getting big (because seriously, Hoshi wo Mezashite does not count, it's a comeback single after all and comeback singles tend to do good). I know I'm being a bit skeptic but only after May or June will we know the truth...
Sorry if this post is a bit hard to understand.... _________________

Kimura's attraction is faaaaaaaaaar beyond your estimate, if you really don't know much about SMAP and Kimura......especially earlier years......that's why I wonder why Johnny never let him release one solo CD, not even once.........
And one more thing.....sorry to say that, but that "reliable fans base ie NewS" that you talked about.......honestly, I think NewS has the least reliable fans base among all or most Johnny's debut groups. Bonds btw the members and among the fans are relatively weak, compare to the other groups......maybe they will get stronger later, maybe not, but not now.....

If I remember correctly, one of the SMAP member's solo single sold around 100,000copies only......
And Tegomass's 2nd single......I really doubt if they will sell more than the last one.....b/c usually 2nd single sell less than 1st single. Look at NewS's 1st single (240,000copies) & 2nd single (180,000copies) first week sale. and KT's 1st single first week over 800,000copies and 2nd single around 380,000copies........

That would be &G (or Goro)'s song in 2004, but that's because people don't know who &G is, only after the single is released then only people know that he's SMAPs Goro. But look at it this way. THERE'S NO OTHER GROUP IN JAPAN BESIDES SMAP WHO HAVE ALL OF THE MEMBERS FEATURED PROMINENTLY IN THE TOP 10 OF JAPAN'S MOST FAVOURITE MEN EVERY YEAR. NEWS only has Yamapi (and Ryo) in the Top 30, KT has Kame, Jin & Koki in the Top30, T&T only have Takki, TOKIO only have Nagase & V6 only have Okada...Well, KinKi Kids have both men in the Top10 but that's to be expected. Subdividing groups? Probably only SMAP could survive that.
Yeah, I agree with you about the singles trend...Most JE bands are like that when they started with the exception of SMAP, TOKIO and now Kanjani8, though sometimes the singles sales tend to boom upwards after the previous singles went down in sales depending on the situation, like Love so sweet tie-in with a high-rated dorama, or Hoshi wo Mazeshite as a comeback single, or Sorafune with another high-rated dorama (while Hikari no Michi, TOKIO's next single after Sorafune didn't even reach 100k)... _________________

Just read a few posts back, so SAS' Kuwata is releasing a single the same week as TegoMasu? Call me evil but there's probably little chance that TegoMasu can beat Kuwata...Here's a fact, TegoMasu's Miso Soup sold 88k and now have tallied to about 125k, but SAS' last single have tallied to 300k-400k now...
So, 125k vs 300k? Hmm, looks obvious to me... _________________

Wow, so many reply since my last post (if I was a star I would def be quite honored to see the sheer amount of fans out there).
First let me say thank you very much for posting the info about the hair products. While no one was able to confirm if/what product he yamapi uses for his hair, at least I was able to get a few ideas as to what shampoo.
I live in New York, and not to far from me there is actually a shiseido store, so I bet I can find that tsubaki (thats that oil right) product of shiseido.
This could explain where the shine is coming from (and why he might not use a product) after all you don't really need any product(as in wax, moose) etc. if the shampoo provides enough nutrients and oils (which most cheap shampoos actually suck away) However, all shampoos work different for everyone, I myself tend to use 2 different shampoos (alternate) some 5 dollar loreal stuff and then a 22 dollar nexus shampoo if I feel my hair is dry.
Also you mentioned he used herbal essence...(you mean like the american cheap herbal essence shampoo??? ) (they smell great though haha)
Lastly, what was the comment about what yamapi did to his hair mentioned about (sorry I can't keep up with all the post, and there no way I can catch up, there 1000's now) Reference to:

Thanks for the screen shots.^^ *stares* Gosh~ It's amazing what a hair cut/style can do to a person's appearance. (Yes, I know... I'm still going on about the hair issue, but really! I'm still quite surprised by it.^^)
Did he change it again???
Once again, thank you very much, lucy_monostone, dymmamie, and yeuannh Everyone who read and wasn't able to reply, and everyone who will reply _________________
