Also, I really liked the style of Nodame.... any others like it?
Not quite sure if Nodame was the first to mix the anime style with live action, but it's gotta be one of the best, if not the best... And that great musical score...

I've watched Saiyuki's first episode. Couldn't make myself to keep on watching. I find its too HK drama styled. I'd rather watch Dicky Cheung as the monkey king than Shingo (I do love Shingo, I DO). They should do a dorama feature on Shingo Mama instead.

@ monta: haven't watched Saiyuuki
you know, when people say they didn't even make it through the first episode, i wanna see it even more
qnuy, interested? i can back it up after i rent . i think i've seen it somehwere in of the rentals... but i wonder why it said that Atsushi Itoh was the lead??? _________________
I recently finished Hana Yori Dango 2, actually I loved it!
So I was wondering, are there any J-Dramas that are sorta simular to Hanadan?
Or maybe have kind of the same feel?
Because I'm only familiar with a small number of J-dramas, and I was looking around at all of them on the profiles here... x__x So many dramas so little time.

Any recomendations?
Meteor Garden or any Korean (love+comedy) dramas you can get.
If you looking for youthful romantic comedy H2 is a good choice.
If you are looking for romantic comedy minus the school scene, LONG VACATION is lovely. I gave it a perfect 10. The best romantic comedy of all time!
If you are looking for school themed dramaNobuta wo Produce is good. It aired on the same season as Hanadan & I have to say I prefer it more than Hanadan. My Boss My Hero is great too. (getting tired of suggesting these two but it fits the criteria & both are great)
the above suggestions also applies for xoxsunnydelight but with one addition, Hana Yori Dango season 1

Hello! I'm a fan of dark dramas (preferably with a twist) and I would appreciate some recommendations. Please view my profile because I've seen a bunch of them so far. Thanks!
Wow, Yasha sounds like a really interesting drama! Thanks for suggesting that. The only thing that kinda puts me off is that it sounds like that Schwartznegger (sp?) movie Twins. :/
As for Rondo, it aired here in Hawaii, so I'll check it out if/when they re-air it. ^_^

I've heard alot about Meteor Garden, since its based on Hanadan I'm sure I'd like it so thats one that I have to check out for sure.
And thanks for the suggestions! I'll definatly look those up as well. ^^

I'd like to recommend Tokyo Tower, a dorama which only recently aired in Japan. There have been very few dorama produced post-2000 that I would rate as good--this is one of them. One reason is because it appeals to all age demographics. Teenagers and young adults can certainly relate to the experiences of the young male lead while older adults can emphasize with the mother. Another reason is because it deals with issues most people will encounter as they go through their lives: teenaged rebellion; the struggle of young adults trying to make it in the real world; the ups and downs of parent-child relationships; the special sentimental bond between grandparent and grandchild; filial and professional maturation and responsibilities; the problems of growing old; coping with death. In every episode there were situations which made me reflect as I was watching the show on things which have happened or are happening or will happen in my own life. A third reason why I thought this was a good dorama is the performance of Mitsuko Baisho as Okan (Mom). It was actually seeing her name associated with this series that prompted me to watch it. Baisho is a terrific actress with a long and distinguished career (btw she is the younger sister of Chieko Baisho, another terrific actress with an even longer and more distinguished career). Her performance is one of the best I've seen from an actress in a dorama. This series reflects real life: it is sad and happy, tragic and hilarious, empty and fulfilling.

No problem. Well, it's been a while since I've seen any of those two, but I'm pretty sure the drama is much darker and twisted than the movie.

Cool. Someone might have it locally too.
