*is this considered a japanese movie?* |
It's directed by Clint Eastwood... What do you think?
| Quote: | | Is it just me or somethin but isn't the lead supposed to be Ninomiya Kazunari instead of Ken Watanabe??? he appears more often, he speaks more often, and he's the key to the story. but why is Ken Watanabe getting the leading actor title? |
He has the more recognizable name, particularly for American audiences.
As was discussed regarding Nodame, it's not who talks the most or who has the most screen time that determines who's the lead/star/title name, but who is the most significant/key to the story...

Hmmm. I might take you up on that. I tried eMule, but there's only a .rmvb file on there that I could find

Saw Nobuhiro Yamashita's "Lind Linda Linda"
A little bit like Hula Girls. A little bit like Swing Girls.
3 High School Girls who don't play instruments form a band to play at the school Rock Festival in 3 days. Since none of them are willing to sing, they talk a Korean exchange student, who speaks almost no Japanese, into being the lead singer.
There is, of course, a marginally good performance of the one song they learned at the end of the movie.
"Linda Linda Linda" differs from "Hula Girls" and "Swing Girls" is so far as
"Linda Linda Linda" is boring boring boring.
I've heard Nobuhiro Yamashita called a "minimalist". I take that to mean he doesn't like to clutter the screen with interesting images. He doesn't like to write tight or interesting scenes. And he doesn't spend a lot of time thinking about the story.
He's one of those film makers who says, you know... high school kids mostly just sit around doing nothing. So I'll show that.
For hours.
"Linda Linda Linda" A dreadful waste of time.
I also saw Mifune's 1969 version of "Shinsengumi".
Truth to tell... had I not seen the Taiga Drama of the same name, or movies like "When the Last Sword is Drawn" I don't think I would have had a clue as to what was going on with this movie.
Yet another attempt to make a death squad look noble.
As much as I like Mifune... I can't see myself ever recommending this one to anyone. _________________ Manga is to Literature

A.D.
I agree with Tu-Tricky an awful lot of the time.
But even the liberal use of the fast forward button couldn't save this one for me. _________________ Manga is to Literature
