Mine died last year and bought an LCD with fast response time. No eye sore even at 60hz (I couldn't stand 2min at 75hz on a crt). No problem whatsoever with games like FPS or movies. Love it. Big Grin

Probem with those fast response time LCDs is that they give up color resolution: 6 bits per pixel rather than the standard 8 bits per pixel that you'd get from a CRT... Sweat

I don't think you'd see that with a regular LCD TV. Victory! Peace!

I've only watched them on display and don't recall a dark scene. I hope not as that is one reason so far I have not looked into getting one. Sweat

You can do that in The Gimp and GimpShop too. GimpShop is The Gimp, but with photoshop's interface. I was able to make one once, so you should be ok. Mr Green http://www.gimpshop.net

Really? I didn't know that. Even with the digital cable?

Mine was kind of a bitch to adjust at first, cause they are no controls on the screen. You need to adjust them into a software and it saves them in the screen... somewhere. I don't do photoshop stuff, so I don't really mind. Smile

I just took the resolution on my 17" LCD monitor all the way down to 800 x 600 (from 1280 x 1024) YUCK! How can people use it like that?

It has nothing to do with the source, but the LCD monitor itself.

Check the detailed specs on the monitor.

LCD TVs don't have that limitation because they're optimized for video... If they weren't and the picture was crappy, nobody'd buy 'em, ne? Smile

You're right. It seems that most LCD screens use dithered 18-bit color instead of 24bits. I checked my monitor and it support 16.2 million colors. Since 24bits is 16.7 million, looks like I'm missing a few. Sad

You wouldn't have one of those big 22" Apple screen, would you? Naughty

Lost my DSL connection last night.... bleh

Probably a result of the fact that they're cutting up the street to run high speed fiber optic cable through the neighborhood... Thumbsup

Thought it won't be free. Puppy Dog Eyes

The 24mbit down isn't that fast (compared to my current ADSL, which does 20mbit down and only 100k/sec up) but I'd looove to have 24mbit upstream Naughty

20mbits down is great, but only 100kbits up is ridiculous. That's 12.5kb/s. It takes forever just to send a picture. Shake Head

ROFL not 100kbits, but 100kb/sec

still good enough to upload an anime episode in 30mins, But that's the weakness of DSL. They don't sell any subscriptions (to consumers) with faster upstream speeds over here.
