Has anyone watch "Lost in Translation"? Do you think the show looks down on Japanese people? Alot of Japanese people who have watched it in U.S are insulted by it...

It was an enjoyable movie I liked it, although I don't watch US movies much.
Bill Murray did great and so did Scarlett Johansson. The first serious role from him, I think.
Had a feeling most of the movie scene took in the hotel, the city was left outside, so was the ending, left empty feeling.
The karaoke scene was absolutely hilarious What song is it, the first song which Bill sang?
Make it Suntory time
To answer the question above [AND I DUNNO IF THE FOLLOWING COUNTS AS A SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY SEEN LOST IN TRANSLATION, SO, I'LL SAY IT ANYWAY:SPOILERRRRRRRRRRR AHEAD ] that first song that Mr. Bob Harris sang was Elvis Costello's (What's So Funny 'bout) Peace, Love, & Understanding? ("As I walk through/This wicked world/Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity/I ask myself
Is all hope lost?/Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?")
Next one was Bryan Ferry's More than This. Sigh. Somebody know where I can get a time machine? I want my '80s back (not clones of the '80s going on now). Not just my Miami Vices or my "Members Only" jacket, but my Micronauts and my Kikkawa Koji and Pink Lady albums.
Also . . . I don't think that I can readily buy whether Japanese things and people were targets for insults in this film unless they were deliberately caricature-ing themselves as well -- the best example is how "Matthew's Best Hit TV" show . . . seemed like a bona fide "Matthew's Best Hit TV" show (and might very well would have been in a world with a Bob Harris as a Hollywood actor and "Matthew's Best Hit TV"show as a constant.); I mean, you probably can't blame the moviegoing public outside of Japan for formulating an opinion on Fujii Takashi when Fujii Takashi is acting like Fujii Takashi.
And of all the criticisms I've read, seen, and heard to question whether Lost in Translation insults Japan, I've not seen one that mentions a sort of reverse exploitation of Coppola's presentation of the Japanese marketing machine's use of U.S. actors to peddle stuff like alcohol in their country (you rarely see such ads -- one that features neither U.S. or Japanese actors -- in the U.S.). I mean, something like this can work on many levels and not just the obvious ones.
Are there some underpinnings that I'm missing here? I'm all for being educated on things.

I have seen the movie Lost in Translation.
It was an Okay movie, but the actor BillMurray or something really blew big time.
But there was some great shots of Tokyo Night scenes.
That was the main reason I watched the movie was just to see the city Tokyo.
But it aight I guess. _________________
Funny thing is when I saw Lost in Translation, I didn't know Matthew's Best Hit TV was an actual show, so I thought it was just a pretty funny interpretation of an over-the-top Japanese variety show host...
...and then I saw an actual episode of Matthew's Best Hit TV and I realized it wasn't an interpretation at all... ^_^;;;
(That show is pretty damned funny, I have to admit).
I actually thought the movie did a nice job in bringing to light the other side of Japan that most people are not aware of. Balanced pretty well with how pathetic all the westerners were portrayed. ^_^;

***SPOILER***** (maybe)
you guyz watch the oscar right?
On the red carpet, one journalist/presenter ask scarlet johannesan(donno how to spell) about what actually bill muray whisper to her at the end of the movie? Do you guyz any idea what bill muray says to her?
Coz i keep repeating the scene over and over again and watch bill muray lips to guess, but i have no idea .... maybe you guyz can guess..
I bought the DVD, watched halfway. I found the view from the bedroom breath-taking. The storyline is so-so. But if u're watching the movie for scenery, like I am, then it's a must watch.
From what I read in the news paper. The hotel room that they were renting cost about $1000/night US$. Correct me if I'm wrong. From what I know, they rented a single room to make the entire movie. The girl's room was the actual bedroom, while Bill's room was actually the living room.
This movie was quiet and had a deep meaning to it. I think the scenery was very nice. Overall, it is enjoyable, suitable for people interested/not interested in Japan. _________________

I thought it was great...I loved the pacing of it. It's one of those movies that you just watch and say nothing while you watch it since you're so into it. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson did a great job with their roles. The shots and locations used were fitting. Nice movie!
The head of a Buddha statue is stolen from the poor village of Nong Pradu. Ting (Panom Yeerum), who has secretly trained in the art of Muay Thai, is sent by the villagers to bring it back.
They know that Don (Petchtai Wongkamlao), a former villager, is the culprit and that he has taken the head to Bangkok. In the city Ting easily finds Don but he has already disposed of the head.
We are shown that Don makes a living as a thief, gambler and associates with drug dealing - he has been thoroughly corrupted by the city. At first he just wants to shrug off Ting but when he cannot get rid of him he tries stealing from him, and then when he discovers that he can fight like a one-man army he tries exploiting him in the gambling dens of Bangkok.
I have seen this movie in thai language, the actor has done the action and done the cascade.
