What bothers me the most? Right now, it's the misuse of the language for political purposes.

Has anyone read about the fighting going on in Lebanon?

According to the press and the pols, the Lebanese Army has surrounded, and has been shelling, the "Refugee Camp" at Nahr Al-Bared.

Sounds bad, doesn't it? I mean, a refugee camp. That does conjure up horrifying images of poor, desperate people forced out of their homes. A rag tag collection of victims living in make shift tents, and hovels. Children starving. Weary mothers walking 5 miles to a communal well to fill a two gallon tin can with dirty water, and carrying it back to dole out a few precious sips to her fly covered babies.

Sort of makes the Lebanese army sound like the worst sort of murderous bullies... doesn't it?

The problem I have with that scenario is that Nahr Al-Bared hasn't really fit the definition of a "Refugee Camp" in a very long time.

Nahr Al-Bared, and the other 11 "refugee camps" in Lebanon were extablished over 40 years ago.

For over 40 years these 12 autonomous enclaves (with a population of over 400.000) have existed within the borders of Lebanon. Supported by anual donations of hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign countries like the U.S. and Sweden. (I looked it up once. The U.S. and Sweden are the biggest supporters of these "camps".)

And since the "Arab Agreement" of 1969, the Lebanese government has no authority over these "camps".

So why is the Lebanese army attacking the Poor Palestinian Refugees?

Well it started because a group of thieves robbed a bank. They shot some people and the Lebanese Cops chased the Robbers into Nahr Al-Bared. And the poor refugees, calling themselves "Islamists" SHOT THE COPS!!!

Since this wasn't the first time something like this had happened, the Lebanese Government (which has been under serious attack lately) decided enough was enough, and they sent in the army to get the bad guys.

The Army which isn't strong enough to go into Southern Lebanon. The army which had to wait for a shipment of ammunition from the U.S. before it could launch any kind of an offensive. The Army which is riding around in a couple of 50 year old Soviet Tanks. The Army, which doesn't have the power to take out fewer than 200 gunmen from one small town, inside their own country, in almost two weeks of trying.

But the headlines read; Army Shells Refugee Camp.

Man, that sort of thing bothers me.

Ooo I killed this thread, didn't I.

Okay, I'll get us back on track.

What bothers me the most is how mean they're all being to poor Paris Hilton.

Mean towards her???? If you do the crime, then pay the time. A lot of people get "bullied" in jail, and yet their sentences are not altered to house arrest. It's because she is Paris Hilton that her punishment is being altered...and so quickly.

I hope this is what you're implying regarding people being mean to her.

Ack.

The real irony is that the top guy in the Sheriff's department who let her out of jail is Lee Baca... And "baka" in Japanese means "stupid."

Most fitting, I'd say.

I say, throw Paris back into jail. That sherrif has been getting a lot of criticism from everyone because of that. I agree with everyone though, his actions were stupid. Just because she's Paris Hilton, doesn't mean she's above the law. Gotta love our justice system.

Like I said, Chief Lee Baca/Baka. hehe hehe

That's gonna cost him re-election in the future, I'd think... What a maroon.

GOMEN! LOL! I did read your post, and found it fascinating. I just didn't have anything to post since my reflection was internal. Smile

On Topic: There is so much going on in the world, and yet the news/people focus on the woes of Hilton.

Me too, but also I just didn't want to touch that hot potato. Sweat

Paris Hilton is seen the window of a police car as she is transported from her home to court by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in Los Angeles on Friday, June 8, 2007. ... She entered the courtroom disheveled and weeping, hair askew, without makeup, wearing a fuzzy gray sweat shirt over slacks. ...

She deserves time. She got busted twice with a suspended license after being busted for drunk driving. Clearly, she thought she could get away with it. It's not like she needs her car for work and she has the money to take a cab and have a chauffeur.

Boo hoo. Do the crime, pay the time. I don't feel the least bit sorry for her. hehe
