My best friend and I will be there at the midnight opening to pick up our copies...we went last year for number 6 it was so exciting... I'm sad there will be no midnight openings after this T_T they need more books to be as popular as HP

Whats ur fav novel? Probably the Abhorsen Triology
Whats the last novel u read? Vampirates (the second book... read it all in less than a day O.O)
what book are you currently reading? Priestess of the White (not sure how I feel about it... I much prefer the Magician's Guild so far)
Whats the most boring book u've ever read? hrm... that's a tough one because if I get bored I just the books down and don't bother... I can't remember right now boring books don't stick in my head they're forgotten ^_^
Who's ur fav. author? Garth Nix/ Trudy Canavan/ Alison Croggon/ J.K.Rownling/ J.R.R.Toliken

Hmm I am not familiar with that book Madoka. What is it about? Are you enjoying it?

For some reason I have gotten into reading several different book at the same time, all based on something to do with Tibetan exercises or Tibetan meditation or a Monk who left his monastic life after 19 years. They are written by different authors but each one is insightful in it's' own way.

The exercise book is: "The Five Tibetans" by Christopher S. Kilham or the same 5 exercises are in: "Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth" by Peter Kelder. The 1st book is more direct with good photos, the 2nd one is in a story format with the exercises mixed in.

The meditation books: "Ruling Your World" or "Turning Your Mind into an Ally" by Sakyong Mipham. Both excellent! He has lived in the West for so long that he explains the Eastern way of meditation very well, making it easy for me or anyone to try.

The former monk's book: "Flights of a Runaway Monk" by Bruce Manaka. I discovered his book on his website while looking at his beautiful paintings. A very good small, easy read book for anyone ready for a change in their life. You can check it out at: ManakaStudios.com

The original Japanese title is Juuni Kokuki by Fuyumi Ono. I have the first novel.

From Wiki:

The Twelve Kingdoms (\񍑋L, Jūni Kokuki), also known as Record of 12 Countries, and originally incorrectly romanized as Juuni Kokki or 12 Kokki, is a Japanese fantasy series by Fuyumi Ono consisting of eleven novels and a short story collection. The story is loosely based on ancient Chinese mythology and set in a world influenced by Han-era China.

The story centers around a girl named Nakajima Youko from Japan, who is suddenly transported to another world and eventually discovers that she is the queen of the kingdom of Kei. This part of the story is based on the novel Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi (Shadow of the Moon, Sea of Shadow). This novel follows the general Monomyth pattern, but several twists and inversions of the pattern give them originality.

Unlike Fushigi Yūgi, Twelve Kingdoms is not a romance, but closely traces the development of the heroine, Youko, describing how she finds a place for herself in this strange new world.

Brief Synopsis (From a different source):

Nakajima Yoko is class president and an honour student. At home, she is a good daughter, always obedient to her parents. She pleases everyone around her to the extent of ignoring herself due to her lack of confidence. She has nightmares daily and a unique hair colour that cause some friction at home and suspicion at school.

On a day like any other at school, a strange man named Keiki appears before her. He kneels and swears allegiance to her, promising to protect her and never leave her side. Thereafter they are pursued and attacked by demon-like beasts. To escape the onslaught, Keiki transports them to his world. Unfortunately during the journey they are ambushed and end up seperated from one another.

Now they have to learn how to survive in a new land, one with magic, swords, demon-like beasts and immortals.

The novel features a complex fantasy world with a rich mythology behind it. The series tells us not only Nakajima Youko's story, but also stories about other people who came to live in this world.

------

I am enjoying it alot. There was a 45 episode anime of the series in 2002 that I liked quite a bit. I am sure I am losing some in the translation to English, but the translation seems well done so far.
