hi, Im a biggest fans of Junji ito too . I collect all of his comic.and tomie, uzumaki was the best one.
Bel chan, it seems many people think Uzumaki is Ito's best work. It's very hard to get copies in this country. It seems to be out of print.
However, I've seen people saying that Viz are going to reisssue it later this year! I can't wait!
I understand that much of Ito's work, though, has not been officially published in English. Pah.

This just a random thread about manga in general or *waves hands about looking for a word* just about a specfic manga?
I have been absent way to long......
Hi ASZSephiroth, you only have to look at a few pages to realize this thread is about manga in general.

hi keps, me too, in indonesia we didn't have ito's manga, mostly I bought it in singapore (kinokuniya) and it's chinese editions. I think they should publish ito's works here. he is King of horror, btw GYO is the most disguisting and scary.
beside that I also reads Parfait tic ( shoujo manga ) ho..hoh...

I just finished reading Yuu Watase's "Zettai Kerashi"...requires a lot of "suspension-of-disbelief" but it was a fun and enjoyable read nonetheless _________________

Hey Bel chan, what exactly of Ito's works have you read?
I agree Gyo is disgusting and scary. I think reading it late at night was a bad idea for me.
I haven't heard of Parfait tic before. What is it like?
I've just got the first volume of Excel Saga. Only read a few pages, but it looks like serious FUN!

I read all of ito's works, and my favorite are, Tomie, love sick dead, uzumaki, kaidan, soichi's curse diary, a lots coz I collect them all
i love his early works such Love sick dead, coz his art works was so original and got lots of hand drawing ( I mean those effects are awesome, just so clasic loke a sketch) and the atmosphere was so dark . My drawing really got ito's influence too ho..hoh....
parfait tic is a storu about love triangle between one girls named fuko with daiya and ichi. I just can't resist the art work of that manga.
btw beside ito works I like Minetaro mochizuki " Parlor Woman" I got that comic after read the review .

Ah, I'm so jealous! I can only read English, so am limited to what's been published in English so far.
I've looked up Minetaro Mochizuki, and he looks like my kind of mangaka! Especially the Dragon Head books.

Stevie - I wish I could read Japanese, then I'd be able to read what I want. Instead I have to wait until - or if - stuff is published in English.

waniey, I've just seen a review of Hot Gimmick, which was very favourable.
Not out in this country (England) yet, I don't think. *consults magazine*
According to my magazine, the first 3 volumes are out in September (published by Viz).

ILm way too old and a bit embarrased but I have actually read Hot Gimmick - I got them in French, second hand - I think you can find scanned fan translations on the internet ...
I have mixed feelings about it, itLs a bit of a darker shoujo but I had problems with the heroine who has no backbone whatsoever.

Scanlations? I prefer books if possible. I do most of my reading in bed.
Oh no, Esther - is the heroine really annoying? She sounds it!

Hehehe same here, I donLt enjoy sleeping with my notebook
Hatsumi, the heroine of Hot Gimmick is a bit on the weaker side because she doesnLt evolve much during the series. But thatLs of course my personal opinion.

I've got a Ghost Hunt on watch on ebay...considering whether to take a chance on it...
my friend recommended me the anime quite a lot of times. he says it's freakin good (the anime tho. the music and color does have big effect). but i haven't had the chance to watch it. i spend more time at doramas .
But really, i've always thought it was more interestin to watch the anime version instead of reading the mangas. i wonder if Excel Saga manga is going to be as funny. Well that's just me, the reasons are it's either b/c the it's gonna be like forever if i watch the anime version ( for mangas like Bleach and One Piece and Naruto and other never-ending stories ) or the story itself is too irresistible to wait for (manga comes out first) or... there isn't an anime version. for Nodame, the dorama is just as good. But reading has it's own sensation huh? _________________
i really love HOT GIMMICK.. finish all #1-#12... although i think the main character Narita Hatsumi is way tooooooooo obsess about love and her relationship with others (for me, i think it's better to think more about your future i.e study / money)...
sometimes i think hatsumi is so stupid.. akane is brighter than her... but i can't help it... the plot is so interesting... and i end up went to comic store every 2 weeks for the manga... hehe...
and any of you read Team Medical Dragon?
I'm also a big fan of Detective Conan... right now in Malaysia, the latest is #58... owh, i'm cant hardly wait for #59...
My friend, he's reading One piece.. haha.... i wonder when he will give up... it's INFINITY!!!! hehe _________________
