nice to see you have returned from Japan. I hope you enjoyed your trip there. Do share your photos and experiences of your time in Japan.
i have a weblog of my Japan trip, and i will save the rest for the appropriate thread...welcome back!
weatherwise, it was quite a bit cooler, about 15 to 20 degrees cooler, thankfully. as it has been too hot. Warm temps are nice, but over 100 degrees is tough.

That is good to hear after all the rain you were having. We have been having some beautiful sunny, low humidity days with temps in the low 80sF. Great summer weather.
P.S. EstherM I hope you get some sunny days soon.

I'm with you.
With the humidity, it's 31c (105 F) today. NASTY. No a/c at work and no a/c at home. I died in my room with 30 sticky kids. _________________

On Topic: Okay, the heat is insane. I can't open a window because dust will fly in. I DID manage to find a fan tho. I'm not looking forward to bed. _________________

I saw all the damage Typhoon Kyuugo (no. 9) did to outlying areas of Tokyo on TV and feel fortunate that it didn't do much to central Tokyo. (Actually, I slept through it. Usually, these typhoons just come and go and most people just go about their ordinary business.) In the week before the typhoon landed, the weather here was quite pleasant, low to mid 70s F and moderate humidity. Now its back up to the high 80s F and humid.
If it's hot in your area right now, you could do what Tokyoites do to cool off. Have some really cold watermelon and/or cold somen (don't be chintzy with the grated ginger). On the other had, you could have some hot curry--somehow, it really matches the hot weather! But make sure you have some ice cold Asahi Superdry beer to go with it. Well, any beer would do, I guess. But to really do it Tokyo-style, you should go to your favorite Starbucks and chill with a Frappacino. I recommend the Java-chip mocha frappacino or the Banana cream frappacino. I suggest you avoid the Azuki cream frappacino because some un-pureed beans are bound to get stuck in the straw. If you're younger, you could go to Mickey Ds and have some kakigouri (snow cone).
