My Review: 9/10 (tho if we could do halfs, I'd give it a 9.5/10)
For the first few episodes, I was really mad that it was going so slow. Then I was mad because I couldnft understand the random glass apple that popped up everywhere. Then I was mad because Kimurafs character, Teppei, was such a glecherh, and that Takakofs character, Riko, was so flakey. And I was upset near the middle of the series because I was not at all convinced that Teppei loved Riko, no matter how many times he said he was.
And then suddenly | and I canft seem to pinpoint the exact spot in the drama | I came to the realization that this was the point. I was not supposed to be convinced, because Riko wasnft convinced either. Suddenly everything fell into place, and I began to appreciate the raw emotions battled within each character, and how characters like Sanae were necessary to enhance the taste of the love story.
Kimura did a grand job as always, and Takako was a big surprise! She was so different from her role in Long Vacation | the only other drama I have seen her in. I was totally blown away with the way she portrayed Rikofs character. The supporting cast was also brilliant, and Ifm glad the sub-plot was just as good as the main.
There was so much angst in this drama, and one misunderstanding after another. But for a hopeless romantic like myself, all the angst and all the misunderstandings were welcome! The drama, and the characters, captured my heart and I ended the series quite satisfied. If there is one thing Ifd like to change, it would be the last scene. After all the heartache of being apart, I really wanted to see Teppei embrace Riko in a tight grasp to imply that hefd never let her go, or vice versa. Other than this one selfish complaint, the drama was grand and I highly recommend it to all the romantics out there. _________________

So far we almost always agree. Just the Summer Snow ending for me was a total loss. But now we are on the same plane again. You put into words the feelings I had witihout realizing I had them. A sense of unease that they were not clicking at first.... now that you analyzed it I see that is exactly the way I was suppsoed to feel. I was captured by them long before you however. Give me one good romantic scene and I'm gone a la EP 5 ending.... Agreed on the ending being a little too mundane... but still good enough to be added to my "best" compilation as well as the EP 5 ending.

O yesh, the end of epi 5 was fab, but again, I wasn't really convinced he meant it. I thought it was just a reaction to her action, which I was totally convinced she meant. But yesh, I too love hopelessly romantic scenes like that one. _________________

I forgot what was EP 5 all about but I remembered where spoilers : Riko went back to her hometown and Teppei went to follow her! But again it was kinda draggy. It was like he wants her and she doesn't want him. Oh gosh. I bet everyone watching this scene is anxious. =P

Nah, it was clear she wanted him, too. You might want to put spoiler tags around the stuff that's revealing plot info. _________________

Yes, I really have never seen chemistry as good as this. It's so good, it's legendary.
I am about the biggest Love Generation fan around. I have watched it so many times. Maybe 20 times.
These are a few of my favourite scenes
Anyone with the same views as me?

These are a few of my favourite scenes, I don't really know how to put spoiler tags so if you don't wanna know, don't read the following:
The ending of episode 5 is one of my favourite scene. It's the first time he expressed his love for her and I heaved a sigh when this happened. I just felt sorta tired for Riko. It's one of the cutest kiss scenes I have seen in J-doramas.
The scene where Teppei went to Riko's house, the day before she was to leave for her hometown for good. When he told her that he doens't want to break up with her and Riko lied that she wasn't in love with him anymore. No matter how many times I have watched Love Generation, I always cry whenever he begs of her to spend her last day in Tokyo with him.
The scene where they are fighting on the bridge, after Riko caught Teppei kissing his stupid ex-girlfriend Sanae. OMG Sanae and her uninteresting brother were two very irritating elements in the show. Back to the scene on the bridge, there were some really raw emotions there and Matsu Takako portrayed them very well as Riko. I felt her pain through her marvellous acting.
Anyone with the same views as me? |
Just a pointer, for spoiler tags, you just insert "[ spoiler ]" at the beginning of your sentence and then insert "[/ spoiler ]" at the end of your sentence (without the spaces). _________________

Saturday, October 13th, 2007 will mark the 10th year anniversary of the airing of the first episode of Love Generation.
Love Generation all 11 episodes got a stable ratings of 28-32% when it aired on FujiTV, no less. With the very, very simple love story, it has unbelievably managed to captured the audience's hearts, due to Kimura Takuya and Matsu Takako's excellent acting and unbelievably perfect chemistry. On that year, people even looked and were asking the whereabouts of that Indian restaurant on the first floor of Teppei's apartement building, to find out that the Indian restaurant doesn't exist, its only a fictional place, set on the FujiTV's Shibuya studio^^
I think this dorama deserves a 10th Anniversary Tribute Video. So I plan to make one and I need ALL LoveGene's fans' help!! I need an answer from 100 LoveGene fans: What is your favorite scene in the dorama?
I'm gonna rank up BEST TEN FAVORITE SCENES in the video. And, I'll slip in some LoveGene promotions and behind the scenes too.
You may reply in this thread.

This drama is one of the best! Can't believe it's 10 years old already
My favorite scenes are:
1. When rikko and teppei were fooling around after cleaning out teppei's sukebe mags, loved teppei's giggle at the end of the scene
2. When rikko's dad arrived while rikko and teppei were inside this big kimono or something
3. The break-up scene, when rikko said she was tired. I felt tired for her as well
4. When teppei came behind rikko while she was writing in the refrigerator and later found out it was sukebe not suki
Thanks Yanie, looking forward to your tribute
