What are you supposed to do when your torrent has finished and your upload ratio is really low but none of the peers are connecting to you? I've just finished a 800-odd MB download that finished fairly quickly, but none of the peers seem to be able to connect to me Sad Am i gonna get penalised?

I don't think you ever get penalized... It just shows that you're more of a leecher than a sharer, that's all.

I leave my second PC on night and day when I'm downloading stuff and I still get low ratio marks... Sweat

Hmm, OK thanks. It's d-addicts tracker, that's all, and I don't want to do the wrong thing by them Smile

I'm probably more of a leecher, but I've never gotten pinged by anyone about it... It's just personal conscience, I think.

That's the thing: You can never tell how it's going to work, one tracker to another. My Ai Otsuka torrent that's running at home is at least 1.5:1 upload to download at present, so i'm OK with that one: but it's a different tracker, of course Sad it's the Jpopsuki one.

I don't really worry about it since I don't download that much stuff to begin with...

Nor do i, via BT: Just the odd thing, because it's so unreliable. But nobody offers large files like the Ai-chan concert as direct downloads Sad

Well, that file is abnormally large... Sweat

I don't think anyone can support such a large file without it being split.

BT isn't perfect but it has advanced the distribution of japanese dramas and related pop culture beyond anything heretofore. Having said that I'm sure in a a few years something new might come along to eclipse it....or internet speeds will somehow enchance the experience.

Yeah, absolutely. Abovementioned Ai-chan torrent is 7.5G: If I could get theoretical top speeds from my connection, i'd be very happy with BT as it is, and not have to have my comp on for 4 weeks to finish the download. Sweat

yeah? that's self-defeating...especially for the initial seeder to have to superseed that file...it would be problematic and take far too long. also self-defeating in the sense that most ppl would steer clear of a file that large.

Indeed... I love Haken and Shinohara Ryoko...but not enough to commit to a 17G d/l...

Yeah, that's wildly oversized for a batch torrent...unless you had a dedicated fiber optic connection or other similarly exceptional pipe, it's unreasonable to expect your file to be downloaded...how many ppl would even be able to seed that in less than a decade even if you did download it.

that would take me roughly 3 weeks to seed to 1:1 ratio. I think my copy of Haken is just under 10G.

http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_46491.htm

It's actually just under 16G, my bad. But it's 1280 x 720, so hi-res.
