Starting kochira dai san shakaibu. The only rating is a 5, so it may suck. =T

It was the story of one century. Bleah

Too dramatic and somewhat anti-american. The last story was real funny and good tho.

I'm a couple of episodes into Good Mourning, and happy as a clam.

Partly because Asano Atsuko is the star, and she's...I don't know... The Queen of Japan. Or she should be.

And partly because it's about a teacher who marries into a Funeral Director's family, and she ends up working in the business.

I guess it helps that I grew up in a Funeral Home. Sort of an instant bond.

kochira dai san shakaibu as predicted isn't that great. Lots of people from Ikegami-sho. Same lack of humor. kochira dai san shakaibu = tsumannai yo!

Finished Seikei Bijin...Ryoko was good (loved her family), as was Manami...but the male lead was such a lump..I guess that was the point, that he was supposed to be so distant and into his art...

Yup.

Lotsa people seem to have rebuffed this drama because Shiina Kippei wasn't good looking enough to be paired with Ryoko-chan, but that was probably the intent, since the entire drama was a commentary on plastic surgery and physical appearance.... And maybe it points out that people who didn't like the pairing are superficial as well... Wink

Just saying that viewers of this drama expecting gorgeous Ryoko-chan to be stereotypically paired up with a really good looking guy might be superficial as well...

It's very psychological. Beaten Sweat

I don't think that looks matters if the actor is talented or charismatic enough (hello, Kinpachi Sensei in 101 Proposals). I've only seen Shiina Kippei in a few dramas (Seikei Bijin, Over Time, Sweet Season, and some others where he was just forgettable in) and in all of them he was just unlikeable and had no personality to me. To be fair, it may have been "the other man" roles he played.

Maybe if this guy had more appealing roles, I might change my mind, but for now, I also think that he's a lump, as runpup said.

On topic: I'm going to check the second disc of Nemureru Mori to see if it's watchable on the final copy. Victory! Peace!

It wasn't his looks that turned me off Shiina Kippei in Seikei Bijin: I just didn't think he had much chemistry with Ryoko-chan. But she shone so brightly that she overshadowed everyone else anyhow.

Dude doesn't have much chemistry with any of the actresses he was paired up with. I wonder how he gets roles.
