Haven't finished Iguana yet because now episodes 10 and 11 are screwed up. I think I'll watch Tsubasa no Oreta Tenshi-tachi next since I'm reading the book.. _________________

I haven't read the books yet but I think there are differences between the printed and the screen versions.

I've read a few pages of the book and it's not at all like the drama from what I can tell. I may be wrong since I've just seen one episode.
Speaking of Tsubasa, I struggled through the first episode because of the Engrishy subs. So yeah, a warning: do NOT get the retail version. The subs are Engrishy as hell and very hard to understand at times. I found myself translating the darn thing in my head to get by. Hmm...maybe that's a good thing. _________________

My Japanese is nowhere good enough to understand much, but after flicking through all the stories that were turned into season 1 of the mini-series, I noticed that even the characters involved were different. I haven't checked but I think season 2 of the mini-series included stories from a new book of the Tsubasa series. The books I have were 'Umi' and 'Sora'.
a kawai kawai lame dorama, but funny. but what is with every female in the show being weird

Probably true, and Yamada ... is on the funnier sides of things - I saw only one episode though.
out of all the episodes that i've seen, the first one was the worst. it started off sooo badly. you should give the second episode a try _________________
last night and I have no idea what I can watch to follow this one.
No, it's not a brilliantly written show. It's a simple little sit com. And truth to tell, with anyone else playing the parts I'd probably call the show pulp family TV.
But the cast in this show created such a great vibe, were such a joy to watch...
Asano Atsuko who did, does, and always will define the word "regal" for me, was the lead.
Nakai Kiichi, one of Japan's best leading men, a movie star, a TV star... here, playing a shy, awkward young salary man just coming into his own as a man.
Okuyama Yoshie, who (IMO) dang near stole "Tokyo Elevator Girl" from Miyazawa Rie.
And the wonderful Kusabue Mitsuko who some of the younger crowd might remember as the stern, but beloved, old school teacher in Teru Teru Ashita.
And the always great Nishimura Masahiko.
The actors made the show in this case. And danged if I know who among this generation of idols, models, and pop singers I can turn to, to follow it up. _________________

O good! I'm gonna ask for this in a trade with someone.
Finished Golden Bowl epi 5. This epi was great! Although the beginning of hte show was hard to get into, I'm totally into it now. _________________

Just watch/re-watch another 90's dorama. The chances are good you won't be disappointed. I'm currently viewing Ohsama no Resutoran for the third time, and it's as freshly brilliant, hilarious, and entertaining for me now as when I watched it the first time.

I loved that show. But it's still a bit too soon for me to re-watch it. I had to make half a dozen trades to finally end up with a good copy, and I watched each set I got to see if the video was good enough. 6 viewings in less than one year. It's gonna be a while before I can watch that one with a fresh eye again.

Just finished the SP Long Wedding Road featuring Hirosue Ryoko and Nagai Masaru. A light-hearted no-brainer about marriage with kids (one from each side). The was practically no interaction between the 2 leading casts - it's how each of them managed to get approval from the other's family that formed the basis of this SP. For some reason a lot of classical music was used in the background which is rather nice. Recommend for anyone in the mood for light entertainment.
I'm on epi 9 of Golden Bowl. I'm loving it! Kuroki Hitomi is AWESOME in this. The her character grows and how she handles it truly demonstrates honest talent and skill. And of course Kaneshiro Takeshi is drop dead gorgeous... _________________

Hmmm, oh dear...finishing Odoru Taisousasen very soon (as I thought, brilliant series), and still no English subs for any of the series for the fall so far.
Well, I suppose that gives me time to watch the Water Boys 2005 special and wait to receive the Bayside Shakedown movies (I don't think anyone ever subbed the Specials in English, did they ). That, and I'm looking forward to what I'm going to be making a new annual tradition: watching Last Christmas during the holiday season, hehe.
Can anyone else think of a holiday-themed series I can slip in next to this series for the holidays?
