that guy's a lucky bastard hehe, though it doesn't matter, she stays my #1 as actress (yes, I love her eyes), and my #1 as lead cast for that little thing I've been writing, if it will ever be turned into a movie lol...
yea, so, I just read this thread... and man, this had me cracking up!!! (in a good way)
even though its march, and I'm all late about it, I'm gonna throw my 2 cents into the RH scandal::
Just as I have quoted above, if youre a true RH fan, she should stay as ur #1 actress as Voort mentions regardless. Bexpress' posting is absolutely CLASSIC!!! I think any guy who has ever fallen in love and been betrayed would easily relate. But, man, that posting is CLASSIC!
sugoi
So, I was really starting to be her fan... loved her in Summer Snow and the bit part in Long Vacation. On the screen, she was cute, charming, pleasant... almost perfect. However, as cliched as this sounds, I believe its whats inside that counts.
It is true that no one can control RH's life, not her family, not her agency, not any fan. She has the right to live her own life, do what she wants to do. I think the article someone posted about her current public image in japan was indeed a bit harsh.
As an actress, though, she carries the responsibility of being the idol of legions of fans, both male and female (just like a sports athlete like Kobe Bryant). If there is someone to blame, the burden falls squarely on her shoulders. I do note that her agency/parents should recieve some of that blame since it is also their responsibility to give her guidance.
I admit that she was starting to win me over, with her charm and looks. But, seeing how I am against premarital sex, drugs, etc., her character no longer falls favorable in my eyes. I believe she could have shown more restraint and discipline.
Still, I do admire the work she has done, and still support her as an actress, and, yea, I hope her marriage/baby works out
I know some ppl will see my point, others will not. But, in the midst of all of this forum's "idol worshipping", I think Hirosue's real life drama is a great reality check, showing perhaps that, no matter how popular or "god-like" these idols are, like us, she too is only human.

I believe her life is a lot more complex than the simpleness you seem to have scratched in your mind in regards to it.
2 Questions for you. Where do you live? And what are the "etc"s you speak of? _________________

From one of the posts in the forum:::

Does it matter if she is/isn't a drug addicted sl**?
I mean, she IS a great actor. What do we admire her for? Her real self or her acting skillz (+ a lil lookz)?
I say her acting. So, really, who cares if she is a what everyone say she is. It won't matter. The image of her as Yuki shall forever remain perfect in my mind!
Seeing that we both live in the US, I dont claim I know anything going on over in jpns entertainment industry... hence, the "etc" I refer to are just the "rumors" I've come across on the net.
I definitely feel its a bit mean & harsh when ppl refer to her as a "drug addicted s***"... but, it is a pleasant surprise when you find actrors/ress who personify in real life some of the qualities that make them great on the screen... hence, I just dont agree with some of the things she has done in real life. Its just my own 2 cents. nothing more
I placed the quote above mainly cuz it makes a great point of how in many of her fans' eyes (perhaps including mine), Ryoko's image shall forever remain the perfect Yuki.

I asked what they were specifically since you didn't "allow" yourself to be "won over" despite her shortcomings. Therefore, I asked you because I wanted to know what values dictate the worth in a person for you.
And as far as your first sentence is concerned... I work in broadcast music. And have traveled to Japan many times on both business and pleasure. ... but the details of my life are inconsequential.

I think it was more hyperbole than anything.

not always. I, many times, feel it is a pleasant surprise when they do NOT. _________________

I'm sorry, no holding back. Ryoko's singing is terrible. _________________

very subjective subject you bring up. I'm sure even tho how terrible her voice/songs are, they will find a market to sell her cd's b/c of her popularity as an actress. _________________
