I'm looking for the opening theme song played during the opening credits primarily. |

Tiger & Dragon-UTAO-UTAO-V6

I hope one of the above is what you're looking for.
BTW I doubt I'll ever live up to the accolades you bestowed upon me - at least not until Amazon starts to sell OSTs of extra-terrestial dramas.

My pleasure.
Yes, that's Erika-sama. Rumour has it that some people where saying they'll forgo Mop Girl just because the young-not-so-lady was performing the theme song.

| denshaotoko wrote: | @thtl : I have now watched the first ep of Galileo and the music is very good, as could be expected of Yugo Kanno. There are a dozen of cues packed in this first episode, some with full orchestra, some more "rockish", as usual. It is quite different from Hotaru no hikari or Bambino, a bit too Hollywood at times, but good nonetheless. So my request is now justified I shall also watch Mop Girl, because the show seems promising... and the music is by Kei Yoshikawa (Tantei Gakuen Q and Proposal Daisakusen). Hopefully, it will not be as bad as the music for "Erai tokoro ni totsuide shimatta"! |
Hi everyone,
Pardon my ignorance, but i'm curious about the process of creating an OST. Are the composers given the drama to watch before composing? Or are they just told to create a certain kind of song/rhythm/mood? Anyone has any idea? Cause i think that the OSTs for most Jdramas are great!
Like denshaotoko here, i am impressed with Yugo Kanno. Found out a little more about him after watching RONDO. I feel that the soundtracks really suits the drama. I have since watched two other dramas whose OSTs were composed by Yugo Kanno, which were just as great.
His website www.yugokanno.com indicates that there will be a concert this Dec in Japan. As it is all in Japanese, can someone tell me more details about this? Like what are such concerts like? Will it be a solo performance by him or will he be accompanied by an orchestra? Very curious about this so thanks in advance for any info! =)

As far as I know the composer is given a copy of the drama to work on. He's often given cues as to where the director wants background music with the scenes. Sometimes existing compositions are rearranged and used - e.g. ABBA's songs (Chikitita, SOS were used in Strawberry on the Shortcake), even classical music (an excerpt from Rachmaninoff's Symphony #2 was used in [/]Watashi no Kyoukasho[/i]). Sometimes even entire songs where used without any form of rearranging - e.g. the British band Queen's songs were used in Pride.
The concert you mentioned is a Christmas concert of classical pieces (as in the style of classical music) composed by Kanno. It will take place on Friday, 14th Dec, at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Yes, he will be accompanied by an orchestra.

It's arranged by the ingenious Suemitsu Atsushi (SUEMITSU & The SUEMITH).
Thanks in advance : ) |
Sounds like you are asking for the theme song, not the OST.

Hmm...I thought the OST would also be arranged by him, since I found it like that over at Amazon.co.jp
Either their article description is extremely confusing or I'm dull
Which one is it in the end?^^"
Nevertheless thank you for your quick response : )
Hope you can help me here.

Neither. It seems I jumped the gun and assumed you meant the theme song only.
Unfortunately I don't have this OST. I watched the drama but the music did not leave a lot of impression - just not my type.
