visual kei.. yeah it originated from japan..

I don't really think it originated in Japan aside from the name itself... I think it's a Japanese adaptation, progression, and mixture of glam rock, punk, and heavy metal, judging from the appearance of the groups... Smile

Of course, Wiki has a thread on that as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_kei

Doh!

My bad... I was referring to the Nodame Cantabile thread, page 162: http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.9646.3220.htm

I think all those links are still active, but they do have an expiration date. Smile

Since you're into 70s ~ 90s music b, what recommendations can you suggest about Jazz & Classics? 'Cause I'm tota~lly into these things <3

well, for classical, these are composers that i would recommend
romantic (moody, passionate): beethoven's pathetique
baroque (prim and proper, sipping tea): bach's preludes and fugues
classical period: mozart
jazzy: george gershwin's rhapsody in blue
impressionistic (airy, imagery): debussy's claire de lune
modern (somewhat chaotic): shostakovitch
children friendly: prokofiev's peter and the wolf or saint-saens carnival of animals

you can also purchase the Best 100 collection box from nodame cantabile for a reasonable price on the internet. i think i bought mine for about $30 from japan.

as for preferring western over eastern, i don't particularly compare the two. it's like apples and oranges to me.

for j-rock, i do think shiina ringo is definitely awesome. if you get a chance, check out some of her music videos. so cool.

Yeah, the Nodame Best 100 is a great introduction to classical music, particularly if you liked Nodame Cantabile... Smile

I love nodame!! actually it's on my top5 fav dramas!! it's so unique becasue it's all about classical music.. it totally focuses on that.. though orangedays is also another example of a good music drama but it focuses more on the love story unlike nodame. anyway most of the dramas or movies nowadays is about rock music like nana. nodame is a good drama for classical music since almost all of the popular sonatas, prelude and symphonys are there. sorry I f i'm getting carried away with this I'm a big fan of classical music Sweat I like bethoven's works.. actually I can say that he's my idol.. he's deaf and everything but despite that he was able to create good music..I salute him for that!! and really happy for all his creations!! I want to cry writing this Shameful Cry I really want to meet him in person *if only it's possible*
