And i tryed The twilight samurai , and i really enjoyed it !!
I saw her portraying Setouchi Jakucho in Onna no Ichidaiki
She is really nice in japanese outfits _________________

She's one of the best actresses in Japan in my opinion, if not the best.

If you can possibly get a hold of it, check her out in one of her early dramas, Tokyo Elevator Girl (1992)... She totally won me over in that drama.

Finally saw Rie Miyazawa in "Chichi to kusureba" (The Face of Jizo)...she's such a good actress. It's a pretty heartwrenching film though because she plays an Atomic bomb survivor living in post war Hiroshima...and it deals with themes of loss and survival after the war.

Oooh.
Sounds pretty intense.
Ever seen Grave of the Fireflies?
Though it's anime, it's a pretty sad, gut-wrenching film about the WWII firebombing of Japan by Allied forces...

Good analogue to compare it to, although Grave of the Fireflies was perhaps more somber. Face of Jizo is a film in which Rie's character, Mitsue, has a series of conversations with her father....the film is very theatrical in the sense that it seemed much more like a play rather than a movie. I love Rie. She's a great actress with lots of versatility.

One of these days, I'll get around to watching it...

This is a very apt description of the movie. It is essentially a filmed two-person stage play, taking place mostly in one setting. Not only is Miyazawa excellent, but so is Toshio Harada, who plays her father.
Miyazawas's interpretation of her character projects so much vulnerability and likability that the audience instinctively wants to comfort and protect her. It's a first-class performance.

Yes his performance was laudable as well. It was a winning combo as far as chemistry is concerned.

That's what they call suspension of disbelief. She gave an eminently believable portryal, especially given the sensitivities of the role. She's still the best Japanese actress in my opinion after first seeing her onscreen in 1992.
