The good book says 'blessed are the humble...' - I guess 'dumb' qualified as 'humble'...

Ayumi Hamasaki deaf in left ear
Fans of pop star Ayumi Hamasaki were surprised on Friday by a post on her fan club website revealing that the singer has gone completely deaf in her left ear.
Hamasaki mentioned that she had her ear checked last year. Her deafness was confirmed, and doctors said her condition was not treatable. The loss of hearing had started as early as 2000, when it forced her to cancel several shows.
Hamasaki said that she will continue her singing career as long as she can still hear with her right ear.

singer. but she writes her own lyrics. but whatever, every singer seems to claim that they write their own lyrics these days. and they probably didn't do it by themselves.
even ERIKA-ho-sama, *says* she writes her own lyrics _________________

Well, even writing her own lyrics doesn't make her a musician...

ER.. i think singers are considered as musician because they are still dealing with music.. well anyway as long as what you are doing is related to music.. it's painful ..

different people different point of view on what they call a 'musician'. Some people think that someone gets to be called a musician when they create the 'music', you know, like the whole package, so they create the whole song.
writing the lyrics is like... writing an essay?? coz they probably didn't synchronize the lyrics with music by themselves.
so when those boybands and some singers say that they wrote the lyrics, i think they just took a page from their diary and have their composers etc sync their lyrics with the music for them
okay, no heat, don't let this be another Shi*rota Yuu whtvr thread _________________

I think someone who can play and instrument is a musician... And someone who sings is a singer... They're mutually exclusive, IMO.

Singers and musicians?
I'd always assumed that musicians were people who played instruments, as BMW said.
But talking to singers... they're comfortable referring to themselves as musicians since the voice is their instrument. They make music with it.
Violinist, Pianist, Vocalist, etc.
The gray area, for me, comes when you're talking about the person who writes the words. The Lyricist. That person is a writer, not a musician. Unless, of course, the lyricist also performs his or her song. Then he or she is both a writer and a musician. _________________ Manga is to Literature

The photo here on database doesn't do him justice at all, he is very much <3 live.
He was in jđg back in the days. Is quite droolworthy nowadays. Hot.
I tried youtube, but there was nothing recent, sadly.
From 2002: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nQPf0QCfE8s He appears 5:07. I don't suggest watching the other parts

Thing is, are there lyricists who aren't musicians or is that mutually exclusive as well?
