There will be a Hana Yori Dango Final, which is a movie, this coming summer April 2008 I REALLY can't wait for the movie. I was always searching for updates but this is always what I find:
After two television series, the live-action adaptation of Yoko Kamio's Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) manga will end with the Hana Yori Dango: Final theatrical movie, which will screen in summer of 2008 in Japan. The romantic comedy centers on a girl named Tsukushi who struggles with life in a clique-filled private academy and her feelings for the boys in the most elite clique, F4. The movie will take place one year after Tsukushi's graduation ceremony (which was the last scene of the second television series) as a major incident brings the five main characters together.
The series stars Mao Inoue, Jun Matsumoto, Shota Matsuda, Shun Oguri, and Tsuyoshi Abe will all reprise their roles as Tsukushi, Tsukasa, Sojiro, Rui, and Akira, respectively. The movie will also feature special guest stars. The series' chief director Yasuhara Ishii will start the two-month shoot in January and include overseas locations. Kamio is currently developing the story with the series scriptwriter, Mikio Satake (the penname of actor Takayuki Takuma).
Hana Yori Dango: Final will actually be the second live-action film for Hana Yori Dango. A stand-alone movie featuring Yuki Uchida and the music group TRF screened in 1995, before the 2005 television drama series and even before the 1996 animated series. There was also a 1997 animated movie whose story is separate from all the other versions.
Article translation: Hana Yori Dango slated for the Big Screen
From United News (Taiwan), 8/19/2007:
Japanese Hana Yori Dango slated for the Big Screen
The J-drama, "HYD2," which broke viewing records during the beginning of this year, has announced that the movie version will begin production in January 2008. This is going to be the second live action HYD movie in 12 years.
The first season of HYD had an average viewership rating of 19.7 percent, and HYD Season 2 increased its viewership rating to 21.6 percent. Audiences adored the Japanese F4, Matsumoto Jun, Oguri Shun, Matsuda Shota, and Abe Tsuyoshi, as well as lead actress, Inoue Mao, and could not get enough of the drama even with its luxurious ending scene at the graduation party, so the production company decided to skip the television special, and go right ahead to the movie: "Hana Yori Dango ~Final~".
Producer Setoguchi Katsuaki said, "Because we thought about how the final production would have to be more exciting and really wow the audience, the movie version was our best choice. There will be love/relationship drama, mystery/detective show elements, and more."
The movie is set one year after graduation, when everyone will be re-united because of an incident.
When Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao heard the news about the film version, both of them were full of energy and excited to get to work because in addition to being compared to the Taiwanese F4 (Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, Ken Zhu), they are also going to be compared to their 1995 HYD Live Action movie version F4 counterparts (Tanihara Shosuke, Fujiki Naohito, Hashizume Koichi, Saeki Kensaku) and "sempais."
Famous Japanese actress, Matsushima Nanako, who played Domyouji Tsubaki (the older sister of Tsukasa) in the television series, has said she will be in the movie if she recovers from giving birth to her second child.
