I was checking out Ryoko Hirosue's IMDB filmography and noticed that she has a new jdorama out called "Ai Nante Iranee Yo Natsu". Anyone familiar with this? Thanks.

I dun know about the others, but I find it very good... very touching... a bit slow though! And it's not really a new show. I'll recommend it if you like slow soapy dramas...

NightWind just recently completed uploading the entire series in RAW format on D-addicts. For those that have been following this series, what did you think about it?
I really liked Hirosue Ryoko's character, Ako, the blind girl. She did a very convincing portrayal, I was impressed Watabe Atsuro plays Reiji, a man who is pretending to be her brother (who has the same name). He wants to con her out of her fortune, but as the series progresses you see that his feelings for the girl begins to change.
Overall the series was deeply touching and pretty dark at times.
I have a question though - Fujiwara Tatsuya's character, Naru - did he have feelings for Ako as well in the beginning? and..what did they gamble on in the end? _________________

I don't think so. I think he didn't want Reiji getting to close to Ako so he revealed to her the truth.
I think they did not have enough money so Reiji gambled to get enough.
I managed to grasp 50% of the dialogue so a few things are unclear to me. Please feel free to correct my understanding of the plot.
SPOILER WARNING:
1. The drama is called Ai Nante Iraneeyo, Natsu. I understand that the translation is ' I don't need love'. My question is why is there a 'natsu' at the end? Doesn't natsu mean summer?
2. Shiori killed herself because Reiji did not want to be with her as she was pregnant. Ako said that Reiji did not discard her but was actually afraid for her.
3. I also don't understand Kiriko's motivation in hanging out with Reiji and Naru.
4. My understanding of Naru's motivation is that he looks up to Reiji and was pissed that Reiji was turning into a softie. Who has the guy in the chair at the gambling scene? Is he like the lord of pimps or something. Was Naru working for him? And the way the held Naru's hand mean that he was gay?
5. How come Reiji and Naru are pals again at the end?
6. How did Ako lose her sight. What did the doctor actually do to make her sick and did it cause the sickness or made worse an existing one?
7. What were Ako and Reiji saying at the airport at the final airport scene? The only thing I know is that 'uso' means lie. What lie were they talking about.

Thanks for answering my questions.
Yeah, I found the ending to be a bit abrupt, too in that sense. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered like what you mentioned - the guy in the chair. He definitely was creepy looking and it was a bit odd to see Naru and Reiji together again. Maybe it's because Reiji saw how much Naru didn't want to separate from him and so he decided to stay with him? With that aside, there were some strong love vibes coming from Naru. Lol. _________________

Of all the characters' dialogues, I find Naru's to be the hardest to understand to due my crappy japanese. One of the reviews on this site says that Naru's character is 'beautiful'.
Yeah, there were definitely vibes between Reiji and Naru and Morimoto Leo's character with his assistant/enforcer as well. There seems to be parallel with both relationships in the sense that both Naru and the assistant/enforcer look up to Reiji/Leo as kami-sama (God).
Hope someone can answer my questions about the drama.... _________________

Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu [ȂĂ˂A]
Rating: 8/10
This is definitely a high quality drama. Excellently written and acted, what impressed me most was how it was able to convey to the audience what were going through the minds of the characters, and how their feelings and thoughts changed. There is a lot to ponder and appreciate here, I felt I need to watch some parts again to try and understand what really happened.
I actually watched the second half out of order, because I was dreading, the deceit and cruelty, but I need not to have worried. Almost every character had a story of their own expertly told, and even though the premise may seem cliche, it was engrossing once you get past the beginning.
I rate this 8, but only because this is not the type of drama I would normally enjoy, and obviously spoiling myself meant that I was not as moved/affected as I could have been.

Not sure if anyone is watching this thread, but anyway.

1. From the chinese translated title, the summer that don't need love/romance, it seemed like it happened in summer, hence natsu in the title
2. Reiji was afraid after being suddenly told he would be a father I think. He was only 18 or thereabout at the time. Reiji said that he didn't want to be a father. But Shiori took this to mean that he no longer loved her and her baby.
3. It was kind of implied that Kiriko has feelings for Reiji. And they are friends, simple as that. Kiriko said in one episode in the reastaurant that she was the only one who has watched over Reiji throughout his life, not Shiori or Ako.
4. The mystery guy was just some big shot who hated Reiji, from my understanding. Naru was going to work for him, become the next Reiji, from their dialogue. Not sure if he is gay or not, it wasn't important I think. Naru was going to earn him lots of money, hence the handholding, from my pov.
5. Reiji never held a grudge against Naru, and Naru regretted stabbing Reiji right after, judging by his expression. The stabbing was not out of hatred, and they both understood that, I think.
6. Again this is not clear-cut. It seemed that the doctor gave mis-diagnosis and didn't advise the right treatment when Ako was becoming blind. I think Reiji said this.
7. Ako said: (from chinese subs)
Finally found you.
Because every time it was you who looked for me
You were able to find me every time
so this time, I would look for you
Don't lie to say you don't know me
because...
Reiji:
I am scared of lying
because lies will be eventually found out
3. I also don't understand Kiriko's motivation in hanging out with Reiji and Naru.

From my point of view, Kiriko's sister is someone dearest to her. Her hanging out with Reiji is a way to hang onto her sister's memories since Reiji was her sister's lover.
When Naru asked her what love was, she answered it was memories that pepole couldn't forget however sad they were.
As for Naru, his character reminds me of the psycho in MARS manga that loves/ idolizes the male protagonist. Tatsuya's portray of Naru is dazzling. At first I think his character is just an ornament for the dorama. Since ep 3 I realized how mistaken I was. When I rewatched the dorama, I thought his acting including small details as glances, gestures was perfect. Sorry for my ramblings
