Actually her debut as a voice-actress was a movie called the "Last Concert" back in Dec 2004. The movie was an oldie circa 1976.

No, I haven't seen any of her other stuff yet. I will probably seek out stuff by both her and Tamaki Hiroshi in the future, though.

If you liked Hiroshi-kun in Nodame, check out his performance in HeavenlyForest, with Miyazaki Aoi.... Wonderful performances from both actors... Highly recommended.

I had a several year anime hiatus and I'm just getting back into it and only watched the drama on a whim (but got totally hooked in!) I've heard that Engine and Swing Girls are both good things she's done - I'll be sure to check them out!

Swing Girls is a gem... Totally predictable plot, but fun and delightful nonetheless.

I'm iffy about Engine... Not a fan of Kimura Takuya.

Granted, my opinion is a bit stilted, but there have been movies/dramas that Juri-chan has been in that I didn't particularly like...

My disclaimer. Beaten

Funny.. While I'm downloading better versions of both - a quick glance at a stream-feed and Hiroshi-kun in Heavenly Forest looks just like Chiaki (he has such a distinctive cadence), where Juri-kun's performance in Swing Girls is quite different Smile

I think Hiroshi-kun pretty much has the same 'do in all of his dramas/films with some slight variation...

Whereas Juri-chan takes a more radical approach with her appearance in different roles... As my avatar shows, she's gone unisex with her upcoming drama Last Friends... Victory! Peace!

Scary! It looks like she'll be so serious.. I hope she doesn't lose her cuteness. Do you know if she'll be playing a leading role?

You are hardcore, btw.. nearly 70,000 posts. I think that if I factored in all my posts on any boards out there, I might hit 1000 ;-)

Yup, she's a co-lead... There's thread for that drama. Smile

She plays a sucessful Motocross racer... With some hidden secret, which from the CMs posted, appear to give it away... Sweat

Hehe.. she better not! I'll definitely have to check it out once it's subbed (someday I'll learn me some Japanese Smile) I tend to shy away from driving-related series (perhaps because I myself enjoy driving and am afraid that most on-screen portrayals would be cheesy), but since she's in it, I'll have to check it out!

I don't think I've registered on a new recreational forum for like 3 years. Something about this series really struck me Smile

Hmm, then you may or may not like Engine... The story revolves around F3000 racing...

It's no Le Mans, that's for sure.

I feel the same way about Nodame... It's really struck a chord. No pun intended. Beaten

Yeah, it definitely struck a chord with me.

I spent my early teens through early 20s embroiled in music. I was in special groups and really loved the feeling of being part of an ensemble. I went to music camps and took up new instruments and challenges. I also loved classical music growing up (I didn't even add other genres to my repertoire until I was like 15). There's something magical about playing with a wind ensemble or orchestra. For the period you play together, you become part of something larger.

I talked with a good friend today about what is going on in my life right now - I just moved to a new area (1500 miles away) and I have been so busy taking the bar exam and finding jobs, I haven't really found any new friends up here. I think the intimacy a drama can provide into character interactions can be a safe surrogate for that type of interaction (perhaps the reason why I saw it necessary to draw away from it somewhat). Kind of an interesting point in my life, as youe could imagine.

Sorry to get intimate about it - I don't feel I have anything to hide ;-)

Your first post was enough to disuade me from Engine.. hehe

Thanks for the info... I had a feeling she might've done the voice thing before....

I think Nodame touches on that from time to time: working together as a group, being flexible and adaptable to each individual's needs, etc...

LOL, I still see dramas as a surrogate in my life... A more interesting and exotic world, than the daily 9-to-5... Or in my case, 7-to-4. Smile

She's not a fantastic actress - she's good, for sure, but I think Chiaki's actor is better in the show.

I think they're both equally good: they completely and totally embody their characters... Maybe to the point of being stereotyped for the rest of their careers... Sweat

That's how good their performances are. Victory! Peace!

Most actors of Nodame are veeeeeery good.
I too though believe that Chiaki is the best.(Mostly because i prefer the Nodame of the anime i guess)

hehe.. I don't mean to say that she isn't lovable and adorable (and quite good) - just note the equal of Tamaki Hiroshi.

That being said.. she's by far more memorable and I find myself thinking about her facial expressions and vocal qualities more.

Btw - saw your Juri-kun thread and spent far too long sifting through pictures!
