Sadly (or thankfully?) no. Just a few basics thing. I practiced listening, but didn't talk much. I let the girlfriend do the talking and just stared blankly trying to figure out what the hell they were talking about. Way too fast for me.

Thanks.
It was really awesome. I loved every second of it. I sometimes still think it wasn't real. Like it was only a dream or something. I didn't have jet lag, because I didn't slept the night before. I'm happy to have seen lots of yopparai oyaji.
I had more of a feeling of living there than actually was on a trip. We even rented a small apartment, for 3 days, near Ueno station. I didn't even see foreign tourists except for Asakusa temple and a handful on top of a mountain in Hakone. I did enjoyed a few things the locals do like falling asleep in trains, buying an umbrella at a 100yen store when it rains, eating every sample in omiyage stores and not buying anything, home cooked meal... Nice weather, except for one evening, it rain for 2 or 3 hours. I was a little bit shocked to know someone killed himself, in front of the train, almost every time I took it tho.
I really enjoyed the food. I don't even like soba here, because it tastes like shiet. I think I ate some 2 or 3 times there. I can't believe I forgot to eat takoyaki tho. I saw a lot of stands, but always right after a meal, so I never bought some. I'll have to go back. Things kind of happened, between my travel partner and I, early in the trip, so we didn't go to Akiba or Kubukichou, but instead did things like hanami or just walk around. I was scared at first not being able to see sakura, but it was in full bloom on the 26th or 27th. Really beautiful.
I thought of throwing away my passport and never go back home, but I guess it's better than being kicked out of the country and never being able to go back again. Now, I hate even more the place I'm living and want to go back ASAP. Cheaper than I expected tho. You can have a really good meal for 1000~1200yens. Tax included and don't have to tip. The coffee is fuggin expensive tho. 340 for a medium size cup. At one place in Hakone, they even served us instant coffee for 300 a cup.
Usually, when I travel, after a while I'm actually happy to go home. Not this time. I'd go there again today and never come back. Really awesome place. I wish everybody can experience it.

You're right. That's very good for business. In the end, we might be all to drunk to remember everything was free and end up paying the bill.

This is news to me. You have a Japanese GF? Cool.
Yes. The only bad thing is, she has to stay in Japan for 3 or 4 weeks, so I won't see her. One more reason I didn't want to come back.

Missed that part, so....
Omatase. Uploaded a first batch. The 1st one is somewhere near the north pole. The rest are in Yokohama. The ones high above were taken at the 57th floor of Yokohama Landmark. Highest building in Japan. (the building to the left in the night shot with ferris wheel) It had a nice view, the pics came out crappy.
To go to the other side of the bay kind of looks far, but it was only a 20~25 minutes walk. It was pretty nice. I forgot to take a picture, but I saw a girl carrying her boyfriend on her back.

I'm going to Japan in November or December this year.
Mind you, this is not a 'family' trip for me this time around. -Going to hit up all the clubs and bars! All about fun this time around, and no "Brady Bunch" stuff for me.
I got some of my homies from hawaii coming up with me. If anyone else is interested, PM me. I'm looking around right now and will coordinate for places to stay.

Sounds like a fun trip.

LOL! How do you know it was her boyfriend?
Good question, but it seems women do the hard work over there for their boyfriend. A few days later, I saw a girl having a hard time carrying 2 dufflebags and rolling a suitcase, while her boyfriend was walking ahead, empty handed, smoking a cig and complaining she was slow to keep up.
