yeah, it's pretty soon. but that will only be in theaters in japan. w/o subtitles. and i think it would take about half a year to put some subtitles on it. you would be lucky if you understand japanese. _________________

I just finished watching Season 2 and just wanted to see if anyone wanted to discuss and if anyone had any answers to a few of my questions.
1 - Is it me or do we never hear/learn about Tsukasa's father?
2 - I liked Season 1 better than Season 2, what about you?
3 - It seemed to me that towards the end, they were really pushing this whole theme of true love never gives up, was that supposed to be the main point or do you think there was something else being said?
4 - The closer I got to the ending, the more I realize that perhaps Tsukasa and Makino shouldn't be together. They (Makino mainly), couldn't ever be on the same page and were always arguing and fighting. I forgo why or how they were in love with each other to begin with. The show started to concentrate more on their differences and less on why they fell in love. Watching Makino continuously confused Tsukasa about her feeling for him made me want break my TV. What do you think?
5 - Do you think there will be a Season 3? I don't think so, and honestly, I hope they don't make Season 3, because it will go downhill completely.
6 - I got the feeling that Rui seemed to know something about Umi that no one else knew about. Rui knew she was trouble before anyone else. But we never learn why or how he knew, any ideas?
7 - Umi's reason to become obsessed with Tsukasa wasn't really convincing. I was thinking that maybe Tsukasa's mother had put Umi up to the task, but it turns out that Umi is just a crazy lover. It didn't really make sense for her to fall in love with Tsukasa so fast and for no real reason. Anyone agree?
8 - The fall that lead to Tsukasa's hospitalization didn't really seem major in any way. He didn't appear to bump his head or bleed from his head. The fall must have been 7-8 feet and he landed on the shore, so what gives? Is he just that fragile?
9 - At the very end, I still didn't feel a sense or resolution with Tsukasa and his mother. She only seemed to want him back in her life so that the Domyouji group could do bussiness with the president/inventor of the new computer product. She didn't congradulate anyone, nor did she want to see her son propose to Makino.
Overall, I would rate season 1: 8.5/10 and season 2: 7/10. I still really enjoyed the show but many times it became too cliche and frustrating, and many loop-holes were left open making the plot weak. I would recommend this show to all of my friends, but make them watch Season 1 first and tell them to take season 2 with a grain of salt.
I did read the guidelines. I didn't know that season 2 belonged in this thread, but thanks for moving the thread for me.
No problem.
To keep things tidy, sequels and specials for the same drama are all lumped together... Typically because the discussion tends to drift back and forth between them...
Bengoshi-San, I can agree with pretty much everything you said.
As far as season 3, it's highly highly doubtful it will happen due to a Hana Yori Dango Final movie being produced as we speak. Set to come out June 28th (if you didn't know already. If you did, sorry).
Yeah, I just read that there is going to be a movie. I'm excited. Are they using original cast or brand new actors? I also read that there has been one in the past (1995?) and that it was horrible.
Also, this show reminded me a lot of Nobuta wo Produce, which I really enjoyed but liked Nobuko much more than the somewhat annoying Tsukushi in HYD.
I'm glad there won't be a season 3. Because if there were, what could they possibly write about?
More break-ups and make-ups?
Continue to emphasize the class difference between the two?
I think they were maybe hitting the nail on the head too hard by continually making the two break up and get back together and then break up again... and repeat over and over again. That, joined with the many cliche moments made me start forwarding through some of the later episodes.
Well, I'm glad that no one ended up with a fatal cancer, HIV, or a brain tumor in this show like many others, lol.

you have a point..at some scenes, i feel like Hanazawa Rui is way better than Tsukasa. but since i've watched the taiwanese version 1st, my mind is set no matter how or what happen, they are for each other..weird ne~~

i also feel something strange. Rui is not the type of rude guy so when he act weird to Umi i was...ehhh!!!! i think he knew Umi was one of tsukasa's mother plan.

agreed!! there are 2 thing in my mind when i watched it. 1st, Umi really falls for Tsukasa hotness and 2nd it was a part of the plan too..

well..maybe the hit was too hard that cause his brain unconscious some part or the director couldn't find any convincing scene for the memory lost.

somehow, tsukasa mother is a bit kind compared to the taiwanese version. but, at the end Tsukasa did propose Makino-chan
