Last episode of Omiya-san last night. It was a surprisingly good series, but it was too short. At least they'll be showing Aibou 4 in its place next week, so I won't have time to miss it. _________________
The episodes last 28 minutes each. Maki Yoko plays a different character in each episode.
Since I expected this to be a tour de force for Yoko I guess you could say I went into this with raised expectations.
Thing is... I think I underestimated her.
I can't talk about the stories because just about anything I say would be a spoiler. But I will mention that in the first episode she was a suburban housewife... with a secret. In the second she was a gangster's junkie girl friend. And next week the coming attractions have her playing a Bakemono (sp?) in what looks like a comic horror story. _________________

Watched first episode of Last Friends. At first I just wanted to skim through but when I realized I was understanding everything Masami's character was saying in the beginning, I decided to just watch it. Seems promising!

It was a little heavy handed at times... but Yuki is such a doll she made it acceptable.
I found it odd that almost in every ep the GM or the bartender knew the person that needed to be helped from the past...
As for Yuki, the first time I saw her was in Bambino, a minor role...
Then, in Akimahende, everybody was constantly screaming and yelling...that show was way too strident..did'nt like it at all (and it even had Suzuki Anne!)...
But the movie Welcome to the Quiet Room, showed me her true acting ability...
So watching Big Wing has let me appreciate her in a different way! _________________

Episode 4 and 5 of Koibumi. Man, this drama is doing a great job at pissing me off and making me sad at the same time. I can't help but hate, but sympathize with Watabe Atsuro's character. I guess that makes for a good actor, but I still can't stand him. _________________

Sadly, I'm beginning to look forward to the end of the Honey and Clover drama - it started off really strong and then seemed to fall flat compared to the anime. It still has some great scenes, but the continuity and connnection between the scenes gets so weak that they never become more than good scenes, rarely elevating into good sequences or episodes. 3 more eps. to go. Full review in a week or so _________________

Finished up Koibumi today. Wow, what a wonderful drama! Talk about an emotional rollercoaster ride. I went from being all pissed off and annoyed by certain characters to having sympathy and crying for them at times. This was a gem of a drama and I'm glad I watched it.
Next up...I have no idea what to watch, so I'll just randomly pick something. _________________

Try Ruri No Shima and learn about island life.
I of course loved it. It's also very emotional and heartwarming.

But at least you like the ending song, ne?...

The song was ok, but I don't really like Tomiko's dead voice in this song.

Yup. Like I said. Absolutley one of my all time favorites. I'm glad you stuck with it.
Totally glad I stuck with it too. While it's not one of my favorites, I gave it a 9/10.

Cool, that sounds like a plan! I'll put that on my queue to watch.
I started on Golden Bowl since I remember people liking it a lot. First episode was fun and Kaneshiro Takeshi was hot, so it's all good. _________________
Kind of cool. Watching the very young Rina Uchiyama and Ryoko Kuninaka, a few years before they became stars.
Hmmm. The story of a bunch of less than talented High School kids who want to play in the band. The rest of the school is against them. The teachers and the Principal want to shut the band program down.
But by hard work and pluck...
Where have I heard this story line before? _________________

On Topic: Omg, I finished Yasashii Jikan. What an amazingly satisfying drama. I feel like I've been enjoying a nice, strong, brewed coffee with my cup now empty but my body feeling warm and filled.
Next on the watch list... Bambino...
Edited: I couldn't find a thread for Yasashii Jikan, so I'll post my review in here:
Yasashii Jikan is one of those dramas that take you for a slow, peaceful drive down a lane bridged with sweet smelling cherry blossoms with soft light filtering through on the wings of birds.
The story is riddled in a tragedy that unfolds like the tongue of a flame. At first the heat is gentle, and then slowly it begins to warmc then burn. A tale of father and son, I was instantly intrigued by the notion of learning about each character even tho the two never meet until much later. There are various characters that sweep in and out of the storyline and each one is nicely written and incorporated. I donft think there was a single situation that made me feel a character was being misused/overused or simply unnecessary. Itfs rare when a drama is so able to knead importance into each character mold.
Terao Akira instantly captivated me and Ifll be sure to pick up some of his other dramas. Nino managed not to annoy the crap out of me, and Ifm convinced now that he is one of the very rare talented Johnny-boy actors. Nagasawa Masami was okay, but I was very grateful for Yo Kimiko, whom I adore.
I give this drama a 10/10. The theme song is beautiful, the filming is beautiful, the actors are beautiful, and the story is beautiful. What more could you ask for? _________________
