Well if you guys had actually read the posts over at D-Addicts
Haha, actually I have, which is why I was so bothered.
Anyways! I personally am looking forward to more motocross scenes. I know it may seem a bit shallow in the context of the rest of the show, but damn, Ruka looks cool on a bike...
I find this post offensive. Lesbians "flock" to this show because they're so desperate for representation. Tell me, what other "lesbian" show would they be watching? Cant think of one? Thats because there are none.
I'm sorry you're so irritated by a minority expressing their surprised delight at not being trivialized and ignored for once.
Nono, don't get me wrong. I apologize for offending you; I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing at all! In fact, I gladly welcome the change of subject and that's why I'm thrilled this show is doing it. And I agree, I love that Ruka is indeed a good, realistic portrayal that Japanese TV NEEDS.
My irritation is something that doesn't stem to this show alone. I'm not particularly good with words, but even this thought bothers me: "OMG Masami and Ryo are hooked up in the show, I MUST WATCH!" Ugh, I really don't know how to explain it.
Whatever the case, I am NOT by ANY means bashing lesbians or the show for having lesbians -- I'm just really bothered that people are looking at that show with only that in mind, completely disregarding whether or not it's a good portrayal. "OMG I HEARD THERE WERE LESBIANS I MUST WATCH I HOPE THEY MAKE OUT!" I suppose is the best way to convey it... coming off like brain-dead fans who only want to watch it JUST for that.
Fair enough. Sorry I went off on you. I do understand where you're coming from and appreciate the fact you recognize the value in this show.
Lets just hope this show doesn't disappoint and have Ruka go all "Waaahh my feelings are dirty and wrong and I'm sorry for being an anomaly!" Although, I'm not counting on it based on the writing so far. It does seem like the people involved in this show are (at least somewhat) committed to doing this right.
I'm hoping at least once in the series she says something along the lines of "I am who I am and proud of it."
^ No worries, let bygones be bygones. I'm glad that I got a chance to actually shed some light on what I meant, because I certainly don't want to come off like a homophobe (when in reality, I am far from it) *L*
I'm pretty confident that this show will do things right. They already started it on such a good note, so if it dissolves into a stupid puddle of "Noooo these feelings are wrong!" I would seriously need to take a hiatus from dramas again.
As a related note, I LOVE how conflicted she is about Michiru. In ep3 when she's thinking to herself at the racetrack, I was floored by its subtlety but how meaningful it is to Ruka as a character goes.
Watched episode 3 already. Same thing as the last two episodes... it definitely needs more fleshing out in terms of the other characters, since it's only Ruka and Michiru that have any bit of detail so far.
I'm waiting for what they'll do with Takeru's story, since they already gleaned into it with this episode. They should try to maintain interest in all the main characters.
And regarding Eri, does it look like Ogurin will be a big factor in how her share of the story works out?
Well if you guys had actually read the posts over at D-Addicts like beem has and myself, you would notice that no one has said they actually are a lesbian (except for one occurrence). Most of the women/girls commenting about their hots for Ruka are just normal straight females and some of them fangirls no less.
Now there could be something I'm missing due to not reading the episode 3 spoilers but I think what beem was implying was that Ruka has been creating a buzz with the women, which he has said before.
Yikes, I hope my comment didn't offend anyone... It was just an observation.

Aside from the Takeru backstory and his realizations about Ruka, Ep. 3 felt like it didn't do much at all - it was mostly the same story as the previous eps. I mean, I enjoyed it... but I felt like it just didn't move the story at all other than permitting Michiru to feel more close to Ruka. _________________

Got a feeling Sousuke will not going to let things go that easy, he'll create trouble for Ruka whether Michiru leave him or not. The direction of the story need to move away from Michiru/Sousuke and start focus on other characters, otherwise this show will go downhill. As for the female crush on Ruka, I donft think anyone is actual going to come out of the closet because of this show, but are just fangirls like atskv9 said. Forbidden love tends to get people rile up.

Tend to agree with your statment here, Ep.3 really slowed down with regards to the movement of the story. Maybe they are playing with the Japanese Buzz on the DV subject matter and moved it along in that direction. Much as viewers from other country are more interested in the Ruka/Michiru's storyline on a positive girl/girl relationship issues. I'm sure they will play towards the general interest of the Japanese viewing public. Let's wait and see.....

Glad to hear another Asami fan.. I just hope she does something more substantive! I really wanna see her be a bigger part of the story. I felt the same way every time I saw Kiyora in Nodame Cantabile! _________________
