BMWRACER or perhaps THTL, Kindly provide this person with some of the "making of" videos of Swing Girls that thoroughly document the musical training the girls (and a boy) went through in order to make this movie...

It was fun & cute movie. I can't say I can take it real seriously as a musical piece - having played in jazz ensembles for like 8 years (I've played lead trombone in just about all those pieces they played), I can't help but listen too closely ;-) The practice cycle (beginning to performing) was positively silly - some of those instrumental parts would take even extremely talented beginners at least a year to be able to perform at the level they did.. but whatever! I don't mind a little artistic license. I do wonder if most people think people who play instrument can do it like that though... Always reminds me how much I miss playing music.

As a movie, it was fun. It really was like an anime - lots of caricatures. I think the best thing about it were the individual shots. Some of the shots in that movie were soo funny. And some clever jokes in there too.

I think it was more effective as a series of anecdotes over a cohesive whole. I could go into the overuse of stereotypes and cliches... but I accept it as cute, campy movie and in that, it does well.

I really loved the percussionist girl. She was definitely fun. The little mouse puppet was awful cute too.

Yeah, the movie challenges realism and logic, but it's not what it's about... It's fun, lively, and enthusiastic... Can't really hate a movie for that.

And what can I say.. in the end, I'm a big Juri fan - she was totally adorable. She has some amazing mannerisms, doesn't she?

I've nearly run out of adjectives for her... She's just amazing. Victory! Peace!

Wow.. "this person" was making a comment about the presentation in the movie.. not about the actors

I finally got around to watching it...

And in the opening scene I see Stresemann. Thumbsup

And then Mikio from ProDai. Shocked

The movie was great... fun and upbeat. The casting was spot on as far as who got which instruments, and it's doubly amazing know that the actors all played their own music.

And of course, some boar insanity. Hilarious.

It's amazing how incestuous Jdramas are.. people switching in and out with reckless abandon Smile It must be a comparatively small group of actors. I guess the fixed length format makes it more likely that the same actor can show up again and again in a wide variety of performances in a short time too.

I love the names Kaori (Harisen's wife) and Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin). And Kasuga (Osaka from Azumanga Daioh). Why is it I find Japanese girl names so cute?

Maybe I just like K names? My first GF was named Kara, so I guess maybe it isn't that strange. And I dated a Kelly too. (and like any good Kelly, she was crazy)

Fascinating... The gf I've mentioned off and on is named Kathy. Sweat

And there's a bunch more other girls that I've know in the past name Cathy/Kathy as well..... All of 'em Japanese. Crazy

Makes it all the more glaring when people are typecast, or when they have a lesser role compared to other dramas they've starred in.

I'm thinking that the more dramas I watch, there'll be more of the "hey, that's X from Y drama!" It's a bit weird, but then if they do a good job in whatever they're in, you love them more for it.

I agree with that too - I am basing my future watchings on characters I really liked from other shows. I totally have to find out other great dramas that Tsumabuki Satoshi is in after seeing him in Orange Days.

Good luck with that...dramawise, he's done mostly bit parts or in an ensemble cast...

The two dramas (other than OD) where he was the lead were...

Slow Dance...a stunningly boring drama, despite an excellent cast...

Blackjack ni Yoroshiku...He did a super job in this...find this if you can!

He's definitely more of a movie type...

And Reina-chan (Iwasa Mayuko) was Chie - Inoue's (Kuroki's altered ego) love interest.
