After seeing favorable comments by both Geezer and Eve, started watching Medaka. Up to episode 4. Pretty good so far, wasn't too impressed after the first couple episodes, but it's starting to hit it's stride. Plus it has Fumiyo Kohinata and the hugely underrated Risa Sudo. Applaud

Watched the first ep of Odoru Daisousasen.. I'm not sure what I think yet. Seems kinda like GTO - very principled, naive guy against the world.. can he win them over?

Finished Ashita no, Kita Yoshio a little while ago. Great drama, but the ending was a little bland. Nice that things worked out the way it did though. I guess I'd give this a 9/10.

Next up: probably Haken no Hinaku and/or a Kdrama.

I agree that the last episode was pretty bla. They unfortunately placed part of the climax and reveals in ep ten, so I guess there wasn't much left to do. I'm glad you liked it though.

I watched Gokusen 3. Same as usual, but the kids are not as good-looking this time. Their hairstyles have gotten crazier too, which also makes them less attractive.

I liked "Medaka", partly because it showed me why the bosses kept putting Mimura in leading roles. I didn't think much of her in Beginners or Fire Boys. But I watched "Medaka" and said... "Ah!"

It also introduced me to Risa Sudo... and that was a good thing. She's underused in this show but it put her on my radar, and she was one of the reasons I bought a copy of "The Last Lawyer". (Saigo no Bengoshi).

Hiroshi Abe and Risa Suda as the leads in a Comedy/Drama about a down and out Lawyer solving crimes, and winning unwinable cases... that's the fun stuff.

I'm still working my way through "Hanamura Daisuke".

The copy I have is terrible. The screen keeps going black, and every now and then the sound will simply cut out. I'm even annoyed with the style of subs that were used.

But it's been worth it to me to watch, to see how much better the show is getting week after week. They just didn't have the scripts when they started. And Santamaria didn't seem to know who he wanted Daisuke to be. But as he and Mizuno have gone on, they've defined the characters and started having some fun with them. And the guest stars have been fantastic.

In one of the later episodes Naho Toda and Katsumi Takahashi (of Shomuni) were in it. He playing the sad, lonely business man who's been cheated. She playing the hooker with the heart of acid. This show came out when Shomuni was at its most popular, and these two seemed to be having a great time playing against type.

On the flip side of the coin... I've started watching Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tataki. And after 3 episodes I'm thinking about finding space for it on a dusty shelf.

The video quality of the show is outstanding. Koyuki is the female lead and she's as sexy as you could ever want a TV star to be. And the supporting cast is chock full of good actors.

But the scripts inspire only apathy. And Inagaki Goro is not the kind of actor who can do anything about that.

In fact, this is just the kind of situation where being as bad an actor as Goro is, hurts not only him... but the whole show.

I first saw Mimura in Rikon Bengoshi a good drama but she didn't have much of a role and then later in Fireboys she had a decent role but it wasn't much of a drama. She's really shining in Medaka Re: Risa Sudo, she was just hilarious in Densha Otoko but she's real good here as the struggling single mom. I 'm going to have to checkout Saigo Bengonin when I get done with MedakaThanks for the heads up on that one.

I thought it still had somewhat of a climax as to what would happen on Kita's 11th day. Even though it was predictable, it could've gone either way.

Ok, that's reason enough for me to watch this series. Mr Green

On topic: Oops, sorry. I'm currently watching a Kdrama, so I don't think that'll work for this thread. Sweat

Very similar to their characters' relationship in the Odoru Daisousasen series and movies.

Just finished Kekkon Dekinai Kotoko and I actually enjoyed it! Abe just get on my nerves in Trick so yeah I didn't watch Trick 1,2,3. And..I love the dog! If only most dogs are like that. Heh.

Watching Sora wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni. Just finished episode 1 and woah, an hour long episode and I thought the last part where Yamapi confessed his love for Esumi wasn't that great, I thought he was 'acting'. Hah. Irony.

Watched episode 1 and 2 of Koukou Kyoushi 1993 last night. That school girl is seriously annoying and it bugs me that she's stalking her teacher and is EVERYWHERE. Ugh. Why do the dramas I'm currently watching have such irritating characters? Sad

Maybe you're not being selective enough with your drama viewing. Bleah
