Finished Last Christmas last night. It was cute, if a little abusive. I'll post my little review later today
An update to my last commentary - I was spellbound by Katase Nana. I didn't really like her and Hiroshi's story.. but wow, she is so beautiful in that series. I've never seen her before, but seriously, she is stand-out beautiful.
It's rare I'm seriously attracted to someone on looks alone.. but she was a definite exception. _________________

Grand. It's nice to know that now and then I DO get it right.
I'm on episode 4 of Sweet Home. Fuse Hiroshi is absolutely hilarious. I'm glad that there aren't any hateable antagonists. It keeps things nice and light. _________________

Neither! Tho episode 3 was HILARIOUS!
What I love is how they slap the title "Sweet Home" on the scenes that end with something anything BUT sweet. It's like they're pointing out the irony, or making their own sarcastic mark. I love it!
It's basically the story of Saito-san (Mizuki Arisa), the local Kindergarden's Samurai Mama... fighting the good fight, standing up to bullies, and teaching the kids and the parents how to be solid citizens.
It's got a terrific cast of mamas, a wonderful cast of Kindergarden staffers, and some pretty good baddies.
But the piece is held together by Mimura. She plays the timid, mousey little mom who just moved into the neighborhood and is trying her best to be friends with the mighty Saito-san... to learn from Saito-san... and she hopes, someday, to be just like Saito-san.
There are no hard edges on this show... but I'm enjoying it.
Side note: Normally I don't start watching a show until I have all of it, and it's all been subbed. It's just too frustrating to get half way through a show only to find that it's been dropped (for whatever reason) by its subbers. But every now and then I'll take a look at a series that I don't know anything about, and have no expectations about... just to see if it's worth collecting.
is the show I'm watching now as each episode is subbed, and I have to say, I find myself really looking forward to the next episode.
Only half of the series has been subbed so far, and the group subbing it is taking their time. But I think the show is worth the wait.
I'd never seen or heard of Keiko Kitagawa (the star of the show) before this. But she's doing a terrific job. And I think this might be the best part Shosuke Tanihara has ever had in a drama. He normally plays jerks, or bad guys. But this time he's Kitagawa's boss and reluctant conspirator in her weekly adventures... and he's making a great case for himself as a leading man.
The show steals a bit from an American show called "Early Edition". And has a touch of "Groundhog Day" in it. But the actors are good. The scripts are pretty tight. And as I said... I find myself really looking forward to the next episode. _________________

O! Geez!! I'm so glad you're enjoying Mop Girl! I watch it as it gets subbed as well. I've been a fan of Keiko-chan for a while and I'm glad she's doing well in her first starring role in a drama. She was a bit weak when she first came out, but she's a hard worker and it shows in Mop Girl!

I believe it was episode 6, actually. Very funny! Jungle Pub...
I'm on episode 8 now, but I'll have to watch it tomorrow. I'm too tired. _________________

Hey, Wynter!...think we can get Geezer to watch PGSM??!!
Haha, that would be fun to read his review.
On topic: 5th episode of Koukou Kyoushi 1993. I like the dark atmosphere of this drama and I think if Joudan ja nai was made by Nojima Shinji too, it would've been awesome. _________________

Re: Mop Girl, I've watched up to epi 4 so far and it's pretty good. Like Geezer said though, what's really been a surprise is Shosuke Tanihara. Usually his character is somebody you want to put a cigarette out in his face, but he's real good in this.
The thing I don't understand is reading some of the comments from people saying this is a comedy. Yeah, it's got some funny parts here and there, but I would hardly call this a comedy.

Go watch 'Tru Calling,' starring Eliza Dushku. This show is an almost EXACT rip of that show (not that I'm complaining, I like that show too).
This is the one show that I've actually held onto since it's initial airing back in Fall 2007 waiting patiently for subs (*whimper*). It's just that good.
As for it being a comedy...there are moments that make it so, but I'm inclined to say it's more of a 'thriller investigation' type of show with some funny mixed in. Keiko ftw!
California Dreaming. I did not realize this is such a dark drama. So reluctantly I will lay it aside never to watch again. I say reluctantly since it stars among others Kuninaka Ryoko.... but even Ryoko chan cannot get me to watch something so depressing. sad sad sad.
Hmmm. The data base entry does mention that Aya Sugimoto is in it as the Evil Queen. That might be... naaaa. I don't think so.
Re: Mop Girl. I'm glad so many of you are watching it. I hadn't noticed the title being mentioned and I was starting to think that I was the only one who enjoyed the show. _________________
