From Yahoo! News:

Japanese woman caught living in man's closet

By MARI YAMAGUCHI, Associated Press Writer
Fri May 30, 3:21 PM ET

A homeless woman who sneaked into a man's house and lived undetected in his closet for a year was arrested in Japan after he became suspicious when food mysteriously began disappearing.

Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man's closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday.

The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months.

One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed.

"We searched the house ... checking everywhere someone could possibly hide," Itakura said. "When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side."

The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man's house about a year ago when he left it unlocked.

She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman "neat and clean."

That's what I'd like to know... Sweat And how do you fit a mattress on the shelf in a closet?

Japanese closets are different from Western closets...often times they are rectangular in shape in order to make room for bedding (i.e. futon & covers) which are put away when not in use.

I can't explain that one! But the closets are often rectangular in shape and often have shelves in order to place futon, bedding, and other linens folded up when not in use...the story seems quite implausible...this guy must be deaf and dumb.

A lot of children or even young teens sleeps in the closet, probably due to lack of space in the apartment and laziness - no need to fold up the futon in the morning when the futon is already in the closet. For examples of using the closet as a dormitory check out the movie "Install" (Ueta Aya) and the animation "Doraemon".

He knew it. She was probably cleaning up, so he didn't mind, until she drank his last beer. That's when he called the cops. Bleah

yeah and his obsession with seeing her panties and stuff. If he were 14, I'd understand, but the kid was like 8. Kind of strange.

Japanese Mob Boss Gave UCLA $100,000
LOS ANGELES - A Japanese gang boss and another alleged gangster who had liver transplants at UCLA Medical Center each donated $100,000 to the hospital soon after their surgeries, according to a published report.

The donations came from two of four Japanese gang figures who received liver transplants at a time when several hundred Los Angeles-area patients died while awaiting transplants, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The newspaper published a story Thursday about the liver transplants and posted a separate story on its Web site late Friday discussing the donations.

According to the Times, a donation of $100,000 came from Tadamasa Goto, 65, who leads a gang called the Goto-gumi.

A plaque on an entryway to a surgery office in the hospital reads, "In grateful recognition of the Goto Research Fund established through the generosity of Mr. Tadamasa Goto," the Times reported.
And they STILL can't put together a decent football team!!! Beaten

I was waiting for the other shoe to drop...I knew ths oyabun must have given money to UCLA in order to be able to jump ahead of hundreds of people waiting longer than him for an organ transplant. Once again...money talks and bullshiet walks...no matter if the money is dirty...earned from whores, illegal gambling, or whatever...it's truly the American way!

Kind of sad, but I bet we'll see more and more of this. At least they shouldn't have put a plaque. Sweat

I bet they needed liver transplant because they spent too much time boozing.Strange he had to come all the way here. They don't have transplants in Japan? I bet someone could have accepted the money there too. Head Scratch

I don't think Japan can hold a candle to America when it comes to such highly specialized medicine such as organ transplantation.
