Ifm with them (at the above). We surely need esearch by topicf tool, maybe for the sake of reducing the repeated topic on posted threads.

But now I'll become lazy and not clean it out as often.

Don't the older PM's just get pushed out into the trash when the Inbox fills up? You really don't have to do any cleaning at all, unless you're a neat freak.

Nope. That might've been before my time.
| Quote: | | I think genma too it out because the users who may have kept on re-quoting uneccesary quotes instead of deleting all the quotes until you want to quote from the one you want. (i hope that wasn't too confusing...). |
I understand his concern, but aside from that, what other negatives are there? Could it be any worse than the scads of duplicate posts for BTs of Pride or other Kimura Takuya series?
| Quote: | | That would be great, i whole heartiedly agree with you, but i think maybe a limit should be set on how many level down we can quote. |
I'm down with a limit of maybe four or five. One ain't cuttin' it.

Yeah, I think that is the problem. If it isn't harder to quote multiple levels, then all the lazy slobs will just include a huge chunk of quoted text we've already seen. I'm on some mailing lists where the top-posting/complete-quoters are just driving me nuts.
If I want to quote, I always try to edit it to just the minimum for reference, as people can always go back in the thread if they can't follow.
So I prefer it the way it is now. My $.02.

| bmwracer wrote: | I think some thought needs to be made to allow multiple nesting of quotes: there's been more than one instance where I've wanted to quote someone who quoted another person and so on... Having to cut and paste and add in the code to do this is a royal pain... As I've said in the past, PMs allow mutli-nesting, so why not regular posts?
Just my semi-annual gripe. |
At least the way it comes up here is way "nicer" (yes, neat-freak attack) than it would if the multiple post quoting option would look. FUCKEDGAIJIN.COM EXAMPLE (towards the middle part of the page) allows that option and their users' posts look really messy because those guys don't delete the unecessary posts/quotes.
So, I think the way we have it now is a good way, because people nowadays are just too lazy. If cutting and pasting is a pain, then deleting extra posts would be a pain as well.........
Can't win either way. But at least the way we have it now is the "cleaner" way.
Just my 2 yen. _________________
