Taken care of.

Anyways, the flaw in your argument, the whole "figure out what happens" plot method, is completely contradictory in how the formula operates really. Why in the world would they flesh out the whole backstory of a supposed 'sub-plot' and leave their main pillar with such few details that it never is explained properly? That's ass-backwards if I say so myself.

That's basically what I said... I think. Sweat

Finished Ep. 10, finally.. not much to add really. Teshigure is hitting pretty close to the mark for me.

I perhaps didn't find the episode as anticlimatic and frustrating as everyone else. I was actually okay what happened to Sousuke. He wasn't ever all that deep and why should I expect that would change at this stage in the game?

If the model don't fit what you experience, change the model. My expectations went down quite a bit a while back, so I can't get so impassioned anymore. It's kinda sad to not care about such serious issues though - and therein lies the foregone opportunity that I think so many of us have hinted at.

I was most upset when

That being said, I think I'm okay with ep 11 just riding out.. the show ain't getting any dazzling awards from me, but it won't be shot down as a waste of time, either. It's a mixed bag, if disappointing, given the cast.

It was nice to see Eri have a little moment in this one. She could have been a great character.. but that would have been a different show Beaten

Yup, I see what you mean now. Though in my (very humble) opinion, I don't think it matters as long as both stories convey through and I think it did to certain extents. It might've been better if they explored the whole backstory of Sousuke for us as well but I didn't think it was necessary since they've mentioned it in a couple of lines somewhere before about how his mom left him? Anyways, I also wouldn't say Ruka's GID is a sub-plot but more like a second plot to the story. If anything, Eri's would be a subplot although we dont get to see any of it so you could argue that it didn't ever exist! Grumble

If I had to sum it up in one word...It would probably be "Tragedy" for it could've been better than it is right now but good enough for a decent watch. It had the potential but I think the limit of episodes also limited its potential. A tragedy caused by the nature of drama in Japan? Sweat

huh? you mean they mentioned before why sousuke turned out like that? i guess i probably missed those few lines... maybe someone could enlighten me.

Eri.. poor Eri... besides Juri, Asami is the other cast I look forward most in this drama...But Eri has nice fashion sense in the show.. lol..

Just to lighten this board with a non-thouht provocing post kind of a buffer the heavy discussions about the story as a whole.

I just wanted to ask : Hey did any of you guys notice the cut missing on Ruka during that crying scene in the dressing room? Just wanted to point that out hehe

Here's a Ruka fanart, this is from memory so the colors of the shirt/ pants is off and the hair is parted to the wrong side (good thing she wore a black watch Mr Green ) :

I went to Fuji TV in Odaiba and they had the limited edition Sousuke cup. It was cracked and glued back together. Yeah

We all got on the wrong bus.

It might be my imagination, but it appears that all the guys who have watched this drama have seen holes and various other problems, whereas the gals are oblivious or unconcerned... Head Scratch

Then came episode 9 and the writers seemed to get lazy. If this story
took place in an imaginary land without laws and police maybe I could
go along with the actions (or lack thereof) in this episode. But I guess if
the police were called they wouldn't be able to drag out the abuse story.

agree about ep nine
well the whole show had that
as u said if they did that would have eneded differently right

Seriously, what true friend could see someone they care about being
brutally beaten and not call the police? Especially if they thought, as
this group did, that other members of the group could possibly suffer
the same fate.

right right
they try to help
but hta person also have to help themselves as well

i agree thought may not have much to say however the fac t still stand that u allow to say as u please but there would always have people like that Shake Head
its late reply sorry

i know this problem is already fix As for Ryo's portrayal as Sousuke, I want to point out that I personally feel that it's none of the actors' fault but purely on the writers and directors as far as how badly these characters have been fleshed out. Juri as Ruka DESERVES recognition despite this poor writing, as does Eita for his role as Takeru.
i also aree with what u said
but i like this i also think that they should

You pretty much spoke for me here - we have been extremely diligent in critiquing this drama in a meaningful fashion. It's totally bogus to proclaim our rhetoric as not thought out. We've had some great conversations criticizing the weaknesses not only of a show we wanted to love, but problems with the genre as a whole.

Further, we've had some interesting conversations about cultural interactions and perceptions between Japanese and American/Western culture.

I feel a critique that we are baselessly blowing it off is completely unfounded.
i also agree
