I think most Asian guys are intimidated (for lack of a better word) by non-Asian women. Maybe it's the stereotype or maybe it's due to the fact that the parents (usually from the old country) force that "stay within your race" mentality...
I'd have to admit that I wasn't part of that "intimidated" group because I grew up in the inner city and went to inner city schools, where there was a considerable amount of racial diversity and interaction... |
I'm not an Asian guy so I can't say for a fact, but I don't think many are intimidated by non-Asian women (in the U.S.). I think it's the stay in your race thing many times. A Korean guy I know basically said that was the main thing.
I grew up in the city and went to inner-city schools too. My schools were diverse only to a certain extent. Surprisingly, I didn't go to school with many Asians until high school. In Philly, the school system is a little strange. Your school is determined by the neighborhood you live in. All of the schools in Philly vary, so some neighborhoods have crappy schools and some have great schools: curriculum varies for a large part from school to school. Usually, the neighborhoods with bad reputations have crappy schools.
When you get to high school, you can apply to schools outside of your neighborhood, because some schools in the other neighborhoods are better and offer different programs. For most of high school, I went to a school outside of my neighborhood because it was accelerated college prep. It wasn't a neighborhood school....it was public but admittance required application and acceptance. Only then was my school full of Asians...they were at least 40% of the total student body. In Philly, many people of similar races live in certain sections of the city. Some sections are mixed, some are not. My neighborhood is predominantly white and speckled occasionally w/ other races. Your school will only be diverse if it's good and those from other neighborhoods apply to that school.

Being from places where caucasians are (to a point) minorities, i've seen plenty of asian guys dating black girls (myself included). when i was living in miami, asians were to few and in between, so you usually date what was availble, and the population was mostly hispanics and blacks. Here in DC, i also see some asian guys dating black women (altho not as much as miami). I don't know if what you said are in their radar or anything, one thing remains true: guys are guys, no matter if you are black white, yellow, green, whatever. if you are available, and you will be hit upon, it's just a matter of how you interpret the hit. brotha's are sterotypically typed as 'ladies man', with the gift of gab. asian guys (on the most part) tend to be more subtle in their game. Comments? |
Hey. It is amazing...that's why I've decided it's not worth anyone's time. For instance, I don't have the time or desire to try and get someone of my own race to look "inside the box" so to speak. I figure there are too many issues with that one.
It may be where I am (CA--plenty of Asians here) or a different style. You have to kind of blantantly hit on me for me to get it LOL. But I can count the number of Asian guys who hit on me with one hand. So maybe I'm on their radar but I don't know it :-)
As for style's I've come upon. I find age makes a difference when I do find simlarities. The younger African American males tend to be really direct...like *really* direct LOL. So do the younger Latino guys. The white guys just tend to be more flirty.
| KouSeiya315 wrote: | | I'm not thinking that even if they dated me that they would EVER bring me home. So I assume it's mostly a sex thing, LOL |
That's another issue LOL. I don't want to be anyone's "experiement". I'm not saying you have to know right now that I'm the type of girl you want to take home...and I understand family pressure. My father wants me to marry a black man, period. But in the end, he realizes that I'm going to do what I'm going to do.
I don't mind being someone's "first" if it's about liking me as a person. But I'm not into dating guys who just want to see what it's like to date a black chick.

Yeah...I'm told quite often that I need to be hit with a brick or a bat to know when I'm being hit on or flirted with. So whenever it's blatant, only then to I get the point, LOL. When I was in Japan, I was either hit on blatantly, or I overheard what was being said to me in Japanese before the attempt (a lot of times it's assumed that hakujin can't understand ) Not that it happened all too often, but I was hit on probably 5 times in 3 months. I didn't even expect that much, lol.

Except Russell Wong is not completely Chinese. His mother is white. I was his "stand-in" in the film "China Girl." I auditioned for the lead, but Abel Ferrara, the director would not use a Japanese-American to play the part of a Chinese-American. So, he picked Russell, who is not even 100% Chinese.
I've said this before. In the 2002 issue of People Magazines 50 Sexiest Men issue, the ONLY Oriental male chosen out of the 50 Brad Pitts and Mel Gibsons was Yo Yo Ma. What does that tell you about a society that views Oriental males in such a way that the best looking guy they could find is Yo Yo Ma?

(not that lines ever work. they are more or less comical than effective). It would be real funny to hear a line like this:
"say, Beyonce! Oh sorry, i thought you were her...".
We have game, but as a rule, we tend not to be that direct. So you have prolly seen you're line of "lines" from the yellow players, just more subtle.

I meant first as in first date with an African American woman. I haven't met any in a long time or many in general of a first in the other way ;-) At least not that I know of. But I wouldn't mind that either.
:-) | I'll be sure to take that in consideration next time i try to mack (JK), or maybe that's just it. Asian players need to be more direct at hits, so those in "the hunt" should hone their skillz more. I think it has something to do with our upbringing, and also our environment as well. In some parts of asia, people can be so polite, it pi$$es me off. As far as asians goes, i'm fairly direct. _________________

i don't know about the majority of asian guys out there, but from the people i know i can say this.
most asian guys tend to be pretty "shy" when it comes to 'hitting' on a 'white' girl [i know this from ppl who admits this unconfirmed fact]. if there is a choice between a white or an asian girl, they'd rather go for the asian. of course other factors play a role to. say language barrier perhaps [some of the asian guy's english is HORRIBLE. i KNOW. i have a roomie from china who's english suck ass].
for me, that 'rant' in that link is just crap. he's just seeing it in an "ABC's" point of view. it's not whether god dislikes us or whatsoever. it's just fate man. FATE.
all i can say that it all comes down to a person's taste. it just so happens that the girls he 'went' after were more interested in 'white' guys. and i find it rather disturbing about the part where he disses ppl who 'tries to be asian from just watching animes' [this infuriates me the most]. i mean, wtf man. it's their interest! RESPECT that. if you can't, then you are a fuxing childish wuss.
God does not hate Asian Guys. not ALL asian girls dig white dudes. not ALL asian guys are unlucky.
take it from an asian guy who lives in asia HIMSELF.
**sorry, i was just rather disturbed when he disses ppl who watches animes. i don't like ppl who can't respect what other ppl's interest are which results to constant yapping of "childish behaviour, wannabes, etc."**
ooh, another long post from me.
oh, if what he wrote was meant to be a joke, then it's a good one.
