Am glad I sorta forgot to watch the remaining episodes because I was too lazy to download. I think the story derailed after episode 9. Too bad. Ruka was a good character. How about a spin-off where we get to see Ruka and Takeru going on a road-trip adventure across Japan? Leave Michiru and baby at home.

damn, wished I had put money on my predictions, because save for one, I was dead on with everything in that finale.
Also remember folks: there isn't a single show out there that improved itself from an SP show. Hell, even the show SP had a horrible recap SP!
The only saving grace of the SP itself is that it'll be good to recommend to someone who you don't want them to waste their time watching the other 10 episodes of the show!
End result: 6.2 / 10. All of those points are for the acting, the writers were DOA and directing was horrible.

I was more generous with a 7/10, thanks only to Juri-chan and Eita's performances... But yeah, the writing and directing pretty much wasted the acting that was there.

Because they cut out the 81 minutes of recap stuff from the previous 11 episodes...
For which I am grateful for.
On this other forum I visit, the Last Friends thread there was mainly a bunch of girls spazzing about "how so good" this show is with a "completely satisfying ending." According to them, "Ryo should win an award."
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Apparently to them, Sousuke was a misunderstood character who was just looking for some love in the world. The fact that he physically abused and raped Michiro didn't really matter to them because he apologized for it in his suicide note.
WTF?!?!?! I have a feeling this was what the writers were hoping the audience's reaction would be when they wrote in Sousuke's suicide. Ugh, how utterly....disappointing that these girls would lap it all up.

So much for "Reality."
I guess in dramas, as long as you apologize, you're free and clear.

Told you they're a bunch of warped teens. If only they made Sousuke into a charismatic villain like a few of his senpais have successfully done in the past, I would have applauded this character. Instead, they turned him into this sad, lonely, weak man who's only mission in life is to gain sympathy. I've a feeling that they might just want to protect Ryo's image after all. I would have really preferred him to be an out and out villain. _________________

turning sousuke into a good guy translated for me as "any good guy can turn into a DV guy"
forgot to say in last time i posted, but there was one thing that bugged me a lot about the last episode...
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
after all the "no difference between men and women" thing, they STILL put Ruka (a strong, fit, PROFESSIONAL motorcycle girl) behind Takeru (skinny, kinda gay, can't ride a bike to the top of a hill to save his life hair boy) on that touring bike. i could've understood if they had taken turns, but all the time? say male dominance again?

I suspect they did that because Eita-kun really knows how to ride a motorcycle and Juri-chan doesn't... And the writer covered that when Takeru said that Ruka didn't have a license (or something like that) to ride a cycle on the streets...

Hell yeah Ryo should win an award, the one-dimensional cardboard cutout acting of the year award.
Really, what he did isn't award-winning stuff. Not necessarily his fault, more of the writers for not giving him any more material to work with.
Well, judging from the comments posted about it so far, I will not be downloading the Special. No need for a recap of a show that flamed out not long after the first episode or two.
I'll tell you guys this: it's gonna be a sad day in J-drama history if this series wins any awards, aside from maybe Juri-chan or Eita's performances...

I don't know. They gave Shinsengumi! a bunch, including best actor. I think it's interesting that there has been a metric butt ton of criticism against this show, and the supporters have only made excuses. Every drama will have those who like it and those who don't. A good one will have valid arguments on both sides. If the only arguments they have against criticism are excuses, well then the show sucks.

I recall that.

The latter seems applicable in this case.
No kidding. Since I finished the series and posted my opinion, I went back to read the rest of the posts. "Reality" is an excuse lazy filmmakers use to justify their lack of effort. It's not reality; it's a reality-based drama, with emphasis on the drama. That has to be the objective, first and foremost. And if everything was reality, how about all the "reality holes"? It's a drama?
