Wow.... That's a surprising admission...
My apologies for thinking you were one of those "Aya-chan is the best at everything" fanboys...
(You realize that if word gets out, you'll be forced to relinquish your Aya-chan fanboy membership)
hahaha I don't think so. They're pretty cool so I think they'll understand if I like Juri.. plus whats not to like about Juri?
back to the topic.

My Review: 8/10 (I was gonna give it a 7, but I saw that B-san did, and I know I liked the drama better then he did. You mark easy, beemer. )
I should have known this would be a depressing drama with such a foreboding title. Nevertheless, I didnft find it a complete loss. To be sure, I really enjoyed the beginning of the drama, and the very end (more specifically, the last episode). Everything in-between was a complete mess.

The writers did a terrible job. The concept of the drama, in terms of the social issues being covered, was good. There was gender-confusion/homosexuality, child abuse, molestation, and DV. There were even subtle, substantial issues as well, such as neglect, empowerment, abandonment, etc. There was so much meat here that the writers could work with, but quickly the storyline began to cater to the shock value of these issues, and not the essence or importance of bringing about awareness. The characters were not developed, the history of the characters were not fleshed out, and in the last few episodes I found that everything was just rushed and justified in a very weak manner. The overkill of DV – and here I mean showing the actual abuse, not the actual mention of the act – was frustrating to watch, as was the constant repetition of the charactersf actions.
What saved this show for me were the actors/actresses. I have to give them props for playing successfully only one-sided characters. All the actors and actresses did a fine job, considering what they had to work with. I really felt for Ruka, I was madly in love with Takeru, I freaked out when Sosuke was around, Eri brought a smile to my face, and Michiru successfully made me want to smack her around (no pun intended).
Ifll probably never watch this drama again, but Ifm not upset that I watched it this first time. Regardless of all the middle mess, overall the drama really made me feel for the characters and the issues being brought forth. I was also glad that they didnft overplay the homosexuality, and that in the end it was about humans loving humans, and not letting gender disturb the beauty that is love.

I liked what you said about humans loving humans.
I think, Beem's score was independant of his commentary. Were I to judge his commentary aggregate for a review, I would have expected a 5 or 6 (at least on my scale), where my 7 was a little more detached - I couldn't help but be somewhat disappointed, but I recognized a solid effort all said and done. _________________

Because the writers didn't know what else to do with him. It was a weak cop-out, if you ask me.
Exactly: what else could they have done with him? At least for Japanese style dramas, there has to be some sort of resolution - you don't let the bad guy walk away at the end (though that might have been a bold move here).
I would have given them total props for offing Ruka and letting Sousuke walk free.. _________________

I don't think the fans would have liked that, though. At first I thought that was what they were going to do - kill off Ruka - but I'm REALLY glad they didn't.
I think they rushed Sosuke's death and didn't justify it. I mean, he sees pictures and realizes how happy Michiru is without him. Like, did he not see this before, when she tried to break up with him? It was all very dumb the way they did it.

That's because the uploader safved you the grief of watching 81 minutes of kiss-ass Sosuke highlights.
The entire production crew treated this vermin of a character as if he were the Golden Child.
I really hope Juri-chan doesn't lower herself and participate in this supposed movie that they're planning to make...
They're making a movie too?! O jeez. Talk about overkill. The show must have been popular in Japan. _________________

They're going to milk it for all it's worth, but personally I don't care too much. Can't miss the opportunity to make a little more money can they? I haven't bothered to download the SP and I have no plans to see a movie if there is one coming. I jumped on the bandwagon because of Juri-Chan, but seeing as the bandwagon has gone off in a far different direction that I had hoped, I jumped off and I certainly hope the Nodame trio don't go near anything Last Friends related ever again.

Wise decision. But I think they're also catering to the many people who DID enjoy the drama, and who would probably demand a movie.
Personally I think they're doing it all too soon and fast. They're not even giving people a chance to stop and think about what they've just seen.

still watching. dang... i can't tell which and which aren't spoilers so i ain't reading all of the stuff you guys posted yet.
i got to the part where they start telling Takeru's story. funny i actually thought the show was going to be about a bunch of bi-curious' on episode 1. lol.
oh, and i'd kill to have a room mate like Takeru. for real...
Gomen, I've been trying to put in spoilers. If posters don't know, they should put them in anyways. Better safe than sorry. By the way, your post needs spoilers. _________________

Haha.. I really like the onomatopoeic representation of that annoying melody. They always drop something significant in these dramas, don't they? Always too many obvious plot advancing clues! _________________
