Ultimate Energy Drink...Eel Soda!

Unagi-Nobori soda is no ordinary energy drink, oh no... this terrific tonic is infused with a generous helping of eel extract. If you think there's something fishy about that, you're unfortunately right.

According to Japanese folk tradition, eating eel is reputed to give one extra energy on summer's hottest, most humid days.

These days though, one doesn't always have time for a leisurely lunch of delicious barbecued eel.

No problem – Unagi Nobori bottles essence of eel along with 5 essential vitamins in a carbonated medium. Make my medium small, if you don't mind... and by the way, Unagi Nobori is brought to you by the nice folks at Japan Tobacco, known for "healthy" products with smoky flavors.

The Japan Food Analyst Associationrecently asked their 3,000 members to rank 15 beers produced by Kirin, Suntory, Sapporo, Asahi and Orion. They excluded happoshu, "third beers", dark beers and any overseas brands brewed domestically. Members were asked questions such as "Which is the best tasting beer?", "Which beer goes best with yakitori?" "Which beer has the best commercials?". Altogether there were 21 separate categories. The Association has just announced the results for the best tasting beer (uԂ܂IƎvr[v) as follows:

1.Suntory Premium Malts
2.Sapporo Ebisu Beer
3.Asahi Super Dry
4.Kirin Ichiban Shibori
5.Sapporo Ebisu "The Hop"

The Kirin Ichiban available here is also not brewed in Japan...it's actually brewed in Los Angeles under license of Anheuser-Busch. You can find certain tallboy (1L) cans of Asahi Super Dry brewed in Tokyo but 99 percent of the Asahi Super Dry that's available in glass bottle 6 packs is actually brewed in Canada Grumble

Wow, cool...never heard of it...Kirin Fall Flavor. Interesting....

By the way for the L.A. heads on this board...I was passing by 2nd Street in Little Tokyo and I saw a sign at the Ebisu Izakaya (owned by the same ppl as Daikokuya btw) and they had a sign in the window that said, "Now serving Yebisu beer." Victory! Peace!

Of course, brutha. Smile I can't attest to the quality of the food because I haven't eaten there but I did see the sign first hand. ^_^

I broke down and bought a six pack at Mitsuwa a few days ago. I cracked one open tonight when I got home from dinner. Again my first drink in over 3 months. Mighty tasty beer...ACTUALLY brewed in Tokyo...not Canada!
