its great, thought invoking, serious but gets you on the edge of your seat. some have described it "making you feel like shooting your head after each episode.. in a very good way" (air suicide? ). just try to get past 1&2 at a go maybe you'll be intrigued enough to continue. Toma's character is pretty annoying though but he performed well.
and it got a kick ass theme song
wow thats somthing
but u think that tome character is annoying ? y

He screams, MUST run EVERYWHERE, arrogant but the writers are painting him to be an immature young cop so we'll root for the Naruse with his twisted morals. Balance

as usual, episode 6 is sugoi!!
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
fangirl mode again on Naruse x Shiori part.. kyaaaa!! Riida's facial expression is ♥.. dang, i was like praying and praying that he'd open that door and chase her but why he didn't?!?! and his line was indeed dramatic.. so much for his mellow side ne??
on the other hand, rather on his devilish side.. he ended triumphant against another devil (Ikehata) or so i think..im intrigued also on the receipt and seeing the preview, he must have sent a CD to Serizawa?? can't wait for the next episode!! Naruse in tears!!
I love Toma and I was so eager to see him act in this drama. I watched the original korean's Devil and I really love it. Devil is finely made with great plot, script and acting.
Maou, starting from the first episode up to now, has brought me with a great disappointment... and I have been asking myself.. what the director, script writer are trying to do... a great drama is completely destroyed. How sad for Toma since his original role in the korean drama (leading role actually) would give him a chance to show off his acting talent. I love Toma and I see the potential that he would become a really high quality actor, but... more or less... you must give him a chance to get a good role as well... only if they maintain the original plot and scrip at least, ... but sadly the whole thing was completely ruined by the Japanese production team...
Toma is still at his best though... like.. put all his talent and efforts through the poorly made plot... huhhhhh...

wanna cry...
I've watched the original and so far, still love it more than Maou. However, the Maou production team did an excellent job at "maintaining the original plot and script" <--- they are basically the same, only in Japanese and shortened to be precised. The obvious difference between them are the pace and the characters. Its like Mawang on Japanese crack. I love the pacing in Maou. Unfortunately Toma got the bad end of the bargain for getting an annoying character instead. His character is just.. NOT Oh Soo. He is a dumb, young, impulsive detective unlike Oh So who's mature, smart.. but is impulsive too.
A lot of Toma/Naoto fans are crying for different reasons...
btw.. poorly made plot? are you watching the same show as i did?
maybe your dissapointment was because of the lack of lines spoken but certainly not the plot. i thought both were practically the same so its almost impossible for Maou to fail because of poor plot.
I don't think they've destroyed Mawang. Of course there's bound to be differences but from another Mawang fan point of view, they certainly have remade it with care.

In the original Devil... we don't have a single clue who is going to be the next victim... not to mention that we also have no idea who is the mastermind ... we can only guess... but in Maou, they showed us who is who from the very first episode... it was hard to describe how I felt with the scene showing the pictures of every single one who Ohno wanted to get revenged ....... Oh ! No ! .... that's how I felt.....
that's what I meant by saying poorly plotted...
This is only one of the samples...
by the way, this is my personal opinion please do not take it too seriously if you do not agree... I was a bit reluctant though before posting my first comment, I always feel that most of J-drama or J-pop fans are very sensitive when people compare Japanese drama/music with Korean ones...
for me personally .. I love them both. _________________

but from my understanding right from the very start of Mawang, the Devil was already established (subtley by Seung Ha manerism and flashbacks) thus its not a question of who did it but how he had done it. the same was done for Maou but they had to cut down the chase because of time constrain. Mawang have the luxury of time to make the suspense creeped up on the audience but Maou doesn't. I think those who have watched Mawang are the ones that were spoiled by the beautiful original thus are affected by slight differences. Overall right until now both have the same intricate plot.
LOL! of course i'm not taking it personally . i'm just very fiery in stating my opinion . Just staking my point from a view of a Mawang fan who also enjoys watching this adaptation.
Not every Japanese remake is superior to Korean ones and vise versa but you got to give credit where its due . although in this case Maou still can't possibly beat Mawang, it is still a wonderful remake imo.
I think Mawang fans have to see this with an open mindset to be able to enjoy it. Its just hard to be up against an excellent original and Maou team is brave to tackle it with all the limitation and expectations. Not saying Maou is flawless but it's very entertaining watching the Devil mind games in high speed. I myself felt a little regret for spoiling the suspense by watching the original first but Maou has it's surprises. The things I prefer Maou more than Mawang are..

how Shiori handles her powers, Ohno surprised me with Naruse, a better take on Sora and her mother and they didn't take the short cut by killing the characters using trucks.
episode 7
not one of my favorite episode. i think they switched directors or something because the feel of Maou awesomeness just went off course. Even NaruseShiori starting to get cheesy (but I still LOVE THIS PAIR)
One thing I absolutely hate Maou from Mawang. The detective is oblivious, ignorant or in other word STUPID
However from the revelation in ep.7.. Nee-san

...already knew it right from the start. I don't remember if its the same as the original but Ryou's Nee-san rocks.
However, for a pretty mediocre episode:
12.1%

Really? Did they really change their director? Ryou is showing too much emotions nowadays. I also have this feeling that this will be a 9 episode series instead of the usual 11 episodes ones... since the next episode make it seem like he is already discovered.

I'm just guessing because they do have multiple directors. However I do feel the slight difference from the first half of the series which was more smoother while right now there are just too much apparent flaws Its those little details and gestures that was overdone that bugs me. Shiori hair getting pooffier too.. don't like. Naruse had a bad day in episode 7... the emotion got to burst somehow.
Don't be tricked by the previews. Its usually misleading. However I'm hoping they'll do a full 10 episode. There's still lots of people to die and I don't want corpses to pile up in only one episode. 1 extra episode does make a big difference for the sake of character development especially on Naoto/Naruse/Shiori emotional turmoil.
omg
omg
omg
episode 8 was EPIC
I think they brought back the good director because this episode was ... EPIC!
and very different from the original!!!! :DDDDDD
my heart still racing...
i can't .. i.. guh ♥
episode 9

HOT CONFRONTATION BETWEEN THE NOW COOL AND ALWAYS SEXY NAOTO & THE LORD OF MY HEART, NARUSE/TOMOO. SHIORI ANGRY/SAD PLEAD TO SAVE THE MAOU. OMG!
and Ohno cute voice promoting [truth] in the end.. i just.. i.. *weeps*
I was screaming OHSHIT watching that one despite already knowing the outcome. Nee-san was really sweet. Ohno & Yuuka (Nee-san) chemistry was beautiful. I wish we will see her/them both a bit more.
